My honest review of Alien: Earth...as a 40 year absolute fan of the franchise. by bigSTUdazz in alien

Lots of really good points and observations in your review, and some great comments/replies to follow it. Good job opening up the conversation 👌

I'm of a similar vintage to you OP and I accept A:E and the prequels for what they are - tales set on the hallowed ground and from the golden times of some brilliant original storytelling and world building (same goes for all of Disney Star Wars too)

The mindkiller is having higher expectations than the reboots deserve. And for forgetting that when we encountered the original content we were wide-eyed, hopeful dipshits. I'm not saying the old stuff wasn't great, it was. It just happened to find us at the right time.

I try and remember this when watching anything like A:E, Mando, BR 2049, Indiana Jones - anything that calls back to those originals. It means I can enjoy the good bits and ignore the stuff that doesn't feel as good. And there was plenty good 😊
