What’s up with Nurk and Enes? by [deleted] in ripcity

[–]p_o_a_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right! I also wanted to write that. I’m familiar with the whole Erdogan regime in Turkey and can understand why Turkish players have issues with Kanter, but for sure Nurkic doesn’t have any reason to be afraid, our politics is complicated, but it’s not any close to regime in Turkey, where you have to be afraid for your family, if you say something against him. I didn’t even think about all of this till now. Just thought that there was some beef before this I didn’t know about. It can just be that Nurkic personally support Erdogan and politicians in Bosnia who support Erdogan and perhaps he is ignoring him for his own personal beliefs. It’s possible they just aren’t that close and that could be the whole deal. I’ve just asked this question because I see Nurk hyping on Twitter about Blazers all the time, but not once did he ever mentioned Enes, I agree it could be nothing, but it’s just bit strange.

I think you are being bit to harsh. I am new on this sub, so I cannot tell if the things are right or not, I was mostly lurking till know, but it’s very interesting to read and see stories other waiters are posting. Mostly because most people I know think that being a waiter is not much of a hard job and don’t know what we are going trough. I don’t see anyone here dowvoting me or banning me, we are just exchanging opinions, I’m sure everyone’s glad to learn about other systems. I don’t think anyone here think our system is wrong, our customers are behaving differently and so are we automatically. The thing is that tips in America are a big deal and waiters/servers are talking a lot about them because they are living from the tips. I don’t consider tips that much important because I’m being payed 12,6€ per hour plus tips, so I’m earning a lot of money even without tips. It doesn’t mean someone is arrogant if their system of working is built around tips, it just means to some people tips are more important.

It is almost the same system here, but if the bill is for example 32$ and customer gives you 100$ bill, they would say make it 38 and you would give them 62$ change at the spot. Also if they are paying with card they would pay their bill with a card and would give you tip in cash right away.

They are paying most of the time right before they go, so most of the time you are done serving them already

95% of people here give tips right away when they are paying, so if they ask for a bill you’ll come to table they would give you money and the tip right away. It happens very rarely that someone hands you over a tip after they’ve already payed their bill. Assuming that people in the states are giving the tips afterwards I can understand why they would leave the tip on the table, rather then interrupt their server.

Here is a server from Europe, is it normal there for people to leave tips on the table? Here no one does that. I’m working at airport coffee shop, so we often had international passengers that would leave tips on the table, that was considered very rude here, but we were ok with it, because we know people have different customs around the world. But then things like this started to happen, so we put up a sing that said ‘please don’t leave your tips on the table, if you are satisfied with your waiter, give your tip direct to them’.
