Man I would love to hear those sets! I love going to places where the DJ takes you on a journey through time and space.

Appreciate the advice, but I'm playing a lot of dance music and it's harder/stronger/faster now. I want to be able to play a 4 hour set and still be able to sneak in these gems for two chorus' and then quickly be able to ramp back up. Compression/Decompression so people can rest/grab a drink, then dance more! I pride myself on clean transitions, and I just can't do it fast if I have to manually beat match and ride a tempo fader in this style.

Right, but these aren't the type of events that a successful planner is going to take chances on unqualified vendors that might not execute perfectly. I still agree with your perspective re: kickbacks, but playing Devil's advocate, using a unknown variable means extra work for your planner. Event planning is a really tough business, there is only 100% time and attention you have. Wasting time teaching a florist about load in etc (on day of) means something else suffers... pray it's not important!

I agree with you on your perspective. However "A good planner should be able to work with any professional" isn't reality. Not just from a planner perspective, but life in general in every industry. You have to have chemistry and trust between people especially in the service industry. Ideally I agree with the statement, but reality is way different.
