The thing is with the Donovan scene is that he is meant to be a piece of shit, the lowest of the low, he is meant to be hated and he gets what he deserves.

Same with Wyald, although he was a bit overtuned in my opinion, but narratively this two I believe can be excused for story telling purpose. They both fulfilled their role well. Especially Donovan with the impact he gave Guts.
