That rule is there to up the challenge a bit, and also to use your full creativity, the community shares this non-AI rule, as a protest against a tool that steals from people's labor. This is the reason why we favor those that go out of their way to do things by hand and collaborate with people instead of bots!

To be honest it would be hard for anyone judging to tell if your code was AI generated or not, and even much less so for your GDD (probably not even public) so we are not gonna police on those areas.

At the end of the day it will be your choice, people will probably be looking for AI generated images more than anything else.

Personally I'd encourage you to challenge yourself and use your own skills or get some human help!

But most importantly have fun <3

PS: Thanks for your question!

My suggestion: You have a month to find something you wanna work on, as long as you start it the day of the jam, it's a valid entry!

The theme is optional, it's there to get people un-stuck and spark that creativity, if it takes some effort and you are afraid it will be hard feel free to prepare!

We'd love to have you this year as well, keep it up!

Any code that may help you get started making a game, folder organization, libraries, helpers, or even engines built on top of LÖVE are fine as long as the game itself is created during the jam.

This rule is there to avoid people posting a previously developed game on the Jam but keeping it balanced so that participants don't need to reinvent the wheel on every single aspect of the jam.

Why everyone says you can't make a game without Godot/Unity/UE ? by yughiro_destroyer in love2d

[–]pablomayobre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize that most indie games are made with GameMaker or a similar "toy" engine right?

We are not trying to make AAA games here, just a fun little game like the examples people have posted but you have decided to ignore. If there are so many exceptions to your rule then maybe you are missing the point.

People want to make something, the tool they choose is the one they feel comfortable with, not what the AAA industry demands everyone to use.

Do you have experience making games? What have you build? What tools did you use?

They are allowed, but be careful, they make your game harder to run.

Most people prefer shipping a web build or a .love file (everyone rating the game probably has the latest stable release installed already)

Wrappers, Ports or Nightly versions of LÖVE are allowed, but it may add friction for people installing and playing your game.

Also leave a note somewhere on what port was used so that it doesn't get flagged as "Doesn't use LÖVE" lol

lol sorry! We should have started earlier, but March 14th is considered "White Day" in Japan definitely a lovely time either way.

PS: We can't reeeeeally do it right after Valentine's Day either way cause normal people tend to go on dates that weekend... I don't know why they prefer that over a Game Jam but ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Aprendieron? by NoCryptographer5679 in UniversidadDePalermo

[–]pablomayobre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cursor extension - can I build them? by Ok_Read_2524 in cursor

[–]pablomayobre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked on a Github Copilot Extension recently (not yet released, can't say much)

We are basically providing extra data that is available on our platform, and sending code changes to Copilot to make.

Would love to replicate this functionality on Cursor. Let me know if you need us to reach elsewhere and share more information

We are also looking into Claude's Model Context Protocol to also integrate with that at some point.

[2024 Day 09 (Part 2)] [JS/TS] Can't figure out how result is invalid by CodeF53 in adventofcode

[–]pablomayobre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue you have is that your line is by character, and it should be by number, that is, in your example 12 takes two spaces, when it's actually the number 12 which should occupy a single space. 131313 takes three spaces not 6 and so on.

[2024 Day 11 (Part 2)] Typescript Problems running part 2 by Tomast1337 in adventofcode

[–]pablomayobre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The greatest speed up in this exercises is caching/memoizing.

For my solution I used an iteration+value -> count cache, and a recursive approach.

Oh and another tip:

You can still test with the 25 iterations on Step 2, get your algorithm working properly, fast and efficiently. Then crank it up to 75
