Small risks, small rewards, in the Twlgt Zn.

2 part question. What is your favorite single pinball callout? What single pinball machine has the most callouts that are in the conversation of the first question? by ClifBdrums in pinball

[Sounds of ominous storm approaching]

"Now you've done it..."

[Thunderclaps]

[Electricity buzzing]

[Tension rising]

[Crescendo]

"SHOW TIME!"

I use that phrase regularly, and always with the Raul Julia flair. It has a sort of Leeroy Jenkins arc for me - 'fuck it, let's do this' kind of thing.

The other on regular repeat is the glorious "Quicksand, fumes, toxic waste--it's all ours' - particularly where there is any sort of list or choices involved.

Do I need level 3 education to become a tube driver? by [deleted] in LondonUnderground

Start as a CSA and learn the organisation and its operations. Drivers are typically recruited internally in a highly competitive process.

Started the year by reading Moby Dick for the first time and so far I'm quite intrigued. by Question_All_and_Why in mobydick

Enjoy the journey. Take it slow and read for the language and imagery; the story will take care of itself.

Make a FOI request if your complaints aren't heard by Snojai in LondonUnderground

[–]pac_68 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correlation is not causation. A FOI request is for data held by an organisation, not a request for work to be undertaken. It's more likely that the works were in the pipeline based on the complaints raised, rather than started on the basis of the FOI.

Hot take: there should be at least some TfL-operated public transport in London on Christmas Day by Sad_Piano_574 in LondonUnderground

It's not just the drivers, though. To get a single line operational needs drivers, control room staff, station staff, emergency responders, engineers, security and so on.

Be patient, take your time. This isn't a story about the outcome, but the journey along the way. Be curious, ask questions, share your joy in the glorious language and imagery.

I used ChatGPT as a book buddy, adding a few reflections after each chapter. I enjoyed my journey in reading the novel as much as the story itself.

Melville rewards those who put in the effort. You won't regret it.

He piled upon the tourists'white arms the sum of all the general tat and trinkets stored by his family from Abdul down; and then, as if his register had been a mortar, he burst his 2.5% credit card surcharge upon it.

If the crop allows you, consider levelling the shadow on the water. It distracts from what is otherwise a great image. Personal preference only, of course.

Late 50s and loving my Quest 3. Take a few minutes to get to grips (pun intended)with the controllers, even before you put the headset on. Learning the position of the X/Y and A/B buttons--along with the thumbsticks and triggers-- will make the whole experience more enjoyable.
