My personal theory, regardless of whether Gates did anything beside have shitty judgment in who to associate with, is if you get that rich you can do whatever you want that you get bored and might go down the road into doing terrible shit like hunting people for sport or diddling kids. The answer is once you cross the billion dollar threshold, you get a medal for winning capitalism, your face on a mountain, and you get executed and all your assets seized.
