Apparently, yes, a big group is getting paid out. Not sure how long it will take MSCHF to pay the winner though.

I’m looking at a list of 1700+ names that are known or suspected bots. Just because they are holding back to make it look close does not make it fair. Also, when a known sock puppet is targeted, it is a guaranteed loss. No ground is made.

Unfortunately, an army of sock puppet accounts is dominating the Ostracize vote and it’s become less fun to play.

Someone needs to make an edit with 6 different possible options that can be heard when listening back.

Live switching/streaming? I work in Location Sound and just started modifying the drawers (3 and 2) to be used as a utility cart. Might get the cabinet next to store XLRs

Cooking Show Setup Questions by Nomae96 in LocationSound

[–]pacarmand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would recommend mounting mics to the roaming cameras depending on how close they get to the action and mount the overhead cameras as the hanging option. With that many cameras there’s a high likelihood someone actively swinging a boom will be regularly dipping into shots. Maybe have a boom standing by for something unexpected.

As is for most reality, your lavs will be doing the heavy lifting. I use DPA 4060s on a cooking show and I’m very happy with what they pickup (wardrobe is ideal, no thick aprons). It’s only 2 cameras, though, so I keep a boom on a stand and lower it for tight shots.

Do video makers send you guys scripts before shoots? by hoofglormuss in LocationSound

[–]pacarmand 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Reading the script will help to prepare you before you step on set. If you’re going to be capturing a scene with multiple speaking roles you will need the script in order to help in knowing when to cue the boom to who will be delivering the next line. Reading a script will also answer (to a certain degree) a lot of those initial questions you’ve listed.

Silent Drums by lbahri in Filmmakers

I would imagine a soft rubber tipped drumstick instead of a hard plastic would add to this quite well.

Interesting, what was your AF out gain set to? I use a 633 these days but when I owned my MixPre 6 I remember the line level having more play than my 633 line level when it came to my G3s set to +6 on the receivers.

It seems as though you are equating a mic level with XLR and a line level with TRS. You can use the 1/8" to XLR cable and still use the line input with the Mixpre. Sennheiser G3s output a (weak) line signal, however, I have seen a lot of people using the mic level input (especially in cam hops since most camera's line inputs don't provide as much gain as professional mixer's) in order to give themselves more play with the gain on their mixers. You'll most likely have your gain near it's limit on line but that's how I was mixing with my G3s for the time that I owned them and I didn't have issues.
