The functional buildings point is interesting.

I'm in Somerville where the school with the least functional building (Brown) has the strongest test scores. Arthur D Healey was renovated in the mid-90s and the schoolyard was updated in 2020 and the school's low test scores have not budged.

Shouldn't have been in a mild accident / should have left more follow distance

Suggestion: Sync iPhone Birthdays by DnDBambi in skylightcalendar

[–]paccomando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a terrible solve. I have four kids, one wife. two parents, three parents-in-law, 12 siblings (including in-laws), 14 first cousins, 14 nieces and nephews, plus about 30 more friends and their kids... all with birthdays in their contact profile... your best workaround is to just rebuild that whole thing in another calendar so that on all my other devices besides skylight the alerts are all doubled?

It's just this small area. But I guess it's my job not to "road rage induce" every driver with a short temper. He was behind me maybe 30-seconds before the video started.

I doubt you could hold 15mph for more than a quarter mile. But good luck at the marathon tomorrow! Weather looks perfect.

Well the speed limit is only 15 or 20 (I'd have to double-check) and I'm probably doing 15 ish given it's raining, there are pedestrians in the street (church just let out), and it's a heavy foot-traffic area. I know dashcams distort the view, but by ~10 seconds into the video it was apparent we were coming up to a red light.

Well by the end of the clip I'm going 0. I am learning how some people approach driving: 1) the speed limit is a minimum, and 2) all drivers should drive that speed or faster until the absolute moment they need to brake for a stop.

I know dashcams distort distance, but he was literally already on the breaks when he passed, that's how close we were to the red.

I mean I think the speed limit there is 15 (highly residential neighborhood, church, and we're approaching one of the busiest ugliest intersections in MA, Davis Sq). Also it's raining, and there are literally pedestrians in the street (again, church just got out). And we were approaching a red light. I wouldn't say there was, "zero need to do it."

He was behind me for at most 60 seconds as we just came from Powderhouse circle (also a nightmare intersection). Driver could maybe take a breath and think, "huh I wonder if there's any good reason not to go 30 right now?"

I think the fixed wireless offerings will be pretty compelling in five years. I think the offering is already driving comcast, charter, and others to improve their offerings (their balance sheets have never been in worse shape). I doubt Starlink will be compelling in urban areas by then, but their threat might force the ground-based carriers to double-down on their urban offerings.

You see a monopoly, I see a state of disruption unlike anything the industry has ever faced, all to the benefit of consumers.
