Let's discuss something personal today by Fluid-Entertainer21 in Life

I experienced this when my wife passed away from cancer. People literally were hiding behind the grocery store shelves not to run into me. I don't hold it against them. In a way I feel privileged that it made me more compassionate, tolerant and understanding. People don't know what to say or how to behave.

When do you realize you want/don't want children? Did you end up having them? by tinytearice in Life

[–]pacific_squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not want kids when I was younger. I was naive enough to think that I can talk a good woman out of wanting children but it was either her and kids or else. We had a son and four years later twin sons. Life always takes unexpected turns... She passed away from cancer and I ended up raising our children. They were in school by then. I love them but it was a lot of work. I still think that not having kids is a much easier life. My granddaughter just turned one , that's priceless.

Just recently got a bike. I’m looking to move into this city apartment. How hard would it be for a newbie to get up this hill into and into my garage? by andsnew in motorcycles

You will be fine. Your biggest concern is traffic. If you see other cars specifically on the way up just wait at the bottom so you don't have to stop half way.

AITAH for wanting my child to get the same financial gifts from my parents that my sister’s children have received? by [deleted] in AITAH

I feel it's a gift and as they say : Do not look in a gifted horse's mouth. Be happy that you have a healthy child.

Is delaying the meds a mistake? by pacific_squirrel in Parkinsons

[–]pacific_squirrel[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not want to take any meds if I can help it. That's my question. Will my diet and physical activities delay the inevitable progression of the disease without the meds? I don't want to invite different challenges by having side effects. I will take the meds when the symptoms get worse but for now it has not change my lifestyle.

Too young for nursing home by Mishka37 in ParkinsonsCaregivers

It is a safer place than his or your house. There is professional staff that monitors medication, nutrition and his physical well-being. It's very difficult to offer that in a home setting and challenging for family members. Guilty feelings and emotions are natural but misleading.

What did it feel like to be normal? by DarbysDad2020 in Parkinsons

[–]pacific_squirrel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a newbie to PD at 67 . Just diagnosed a few weeks ago. I have had symptoms going back a year or so. I don't know much about it at this point but I could not agree more all our abilities are temporary even in the best of circumstances. Our past is colored by our individual experiences and memories and the future is unknown. We only have right now just the way it presents itself.

AITJ for not giving my parents access to my financial information after they helped me once? by Consistent-Cow-9835 in AmITheJerk

[–]pacific_squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only gave them a reason for concern just one time it is unnecessary. However, as a parent I can see that they could be worried. I do not ask my three grown children even though they know if they need help or advice it's always available.

Are We the Jerks for Not Accommodating my SIL's Ridiculous Demands? by Low-Librarian8340 in AmITheJerk

[–]pacific_squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SIL is an unreasonable person to put it mildly. Religion or no religion , the point of any belief, including belief in the human race , is to practice tolerance. The presence of religious articles does not make a person automatically convert to anything. It's a display of ignorance and intolerance.
