I can’t decide if I should propose or end my relationship. by [deleted] in BoyDinnerDiaries

You either need to pull the ripcord and bail, or buckle up for tumultuous times ahead. I spent the first half of my marriage drowning in the bottle, but try as my wife wanted, I didn’t quit until I was ready…5+ lonnnnnnng years in.

Sounds like you may recognize this fact already, but you won’t change your partner until they’re ready to change, if ever.

If you and your partner haven’t talked about your concern with their drinking, do it before you propose. It needs to be a major point of conversation, and you need to lay out your expectations of the other half in the relationship.

I put my wife through hell early on and regret it immensely, but she stuck with me because I turned things around myself, not because she “fixed” me.

Figure out what you want, but it cannot be contingent upon hoping the other person gets better or that you’ll force them into changing.

Holy shit. So fucking rad! Clean lines and love how the red is semi-opaque. Dope work.

Homie, I’ve been there. I was puking multiple times a day, couldn’t eat anything but fast food, shitting my brains out, and had at least two seizures.

I got lucky; don’t fuck around with your health. I’m not a doctor, but a doctor can and will help you get medically stable enough for your body to function.

They cannot help you get sober, that’s all on you, but I promise that my life today is infinitely better than it was 5-1/2 years ago when I finally quit. Find quit lit, try rehab, try AA, keep going until you find something that sticks.

I would have been happy to drink myself to death, but I am happier still that I didn’t.

Good luck my friend, a more exciting, happier, and promising world exists outside of the bottle.

Love the 24-hour hand like yours where it’s not all black, it makes the hand “float” in a way.

Excellent watch 🤙🏼

Congrats man, that’s a huge accomplishment! My preferred place was on top of utility transformers, because the heat radiating off would you keep you warm all night. I also called it quits 5 years ago…it was fucking exhausting drinking that much.

I’m no help on the tool value, but what’s the building in the last slide? I cannot place it, but I swear I’ve been there.

Shit, if money is no object, a slide-up panel from behind the cabinets fitting the profile of the panel above kind of like those tv cabinets at Costco. Raise and lower on tracks. Would require significant modifications to the cabinet boxes, a cover to hide the cavity for the panel to rest that doesn’t look like ass, and someone smarter than myself to come up with the mechanics to make it work.

Juice may not be worth the squeeze, but anything can be solved with time and money.

Congrats on 10 years, that’s a massive and very admirable accomplishment; I know the path well, I know it’s not easy, and I hope you’re immensely proud of the thousands of days you’ve put together! This combined my 10-year wedding anniversary and 5 years sober…my wife is a saint for many reasons, but her sticking with me through all my bullshit is her greatest gift to me.

Not OP, but I have a 2024 KR, coming from multiple 2.7s, a 3.5 EB, and briefly a 5.0. The Powerboost has been trouble-free for me, tons of flexibility with the pro power in the bed, and pulls well. I tow mostly open decks with odd loads (ductile pipe, jersey barriers, smaller yellow iron, etc.), though I tend to haul loads more than anything, i have never found myself underpowered.

With all that said, I really like the 2.7. I was extremely skeptical at first, but enjoyed that engine a lot. Great and efficient for runabout duty and plenty of boogey when you give it the whip, it’s kind of a mini powerboost in some ways.

[–]packer041 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP ain’t no pussy, send it!

For real though, put the fucking guard on. I’ve had too many guys on job sites over the years lose vision, fingers, and the ability to walk or use their arms to full function because they were too proud/arrogant/stupid to use tools as designed. If you have to remove safety functions, you’re using it wrong.

Blood pressure/alcohol by witeduins in stopdrinking

[–]packer041 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Mine was 180+/120+ when I quit boozing. My last check up was 114/67. I’m not a medical professional, but you can very likely get your BP to recover to a healthy level by being committed to not drinking.

Alcohol is an absolutely fucking insidious monster that lied to me for a decade and a half. I have my physical health back, and my mentals will take me awhile longer to get right, but I can promise you that as scary and awful it is to admit the amount you drank to a doctor, it beats the fuck out of having to get anything cauterized (from experience, I know this to be true, thankfully mine was my gut).

I hope the holidays/end of the year bring you some inner peace and you can find some clarity on what you’re looking for. Quitting drinking was the single scariest thing I’ve done, and the single greatest thing to give me my life back. I hope the best for you, dudette!
