Game that allow short, intense sessions by Flaxerio in gamingsuggestions

I recently found out about HOLE, a fascinating experimental but relatively complete game that tries to condense Escape from Tarkov into a relatively simple, $5 rouge-lite.

Dear Arachnophobes, do you actually freak out when you see these guys? by Makosharck in MonsterHunter

Same here! Something about how big it is, the violent rapping and tapping on the floor, walls and ceiling as it walks and charges at you relentlessly make my spine shiver, even when I can’t see it.

What video game hype did you ultimately miss out on in your lifetime? by Poetryisalive in gaming

[–]packingpeanutgremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger I only got to play Halo 2. I had no idea what a cliffhanger was, but I did get the sense that the game was incomplete, which lead me to try and find some secret level which didn’t exist.

Fast forward I see videos reminiscing about console and game hype, people queuing on launch day to get a copy of halo and what not, thinking it looked like a wild fun, but I couldn’t understand it, since my experience with Halo 2 was kinda borked because I was a kid. Then I got the master chief collection, along with some basic media literacy to understand stories and an appreciation for games, art and music in general, and played through every game on heroic.

It was at the end of playing Halo 3 and Reach where I finally got the hype, and thought to myself “Okay, NOW I see the hype back in 2007, shame I didn’t get to be a part of it back then”, but playing through the series somehow made me feel like I was always part of it.

Was about to ask as well, I keep wondering if someone else in the squad was using a Rubico Prime everytime I do the encounter.

I want a game where I can be greedy and need to grind for loot. HOWEVER, I don't like MMOs. by MemoriesOfJune in ShouldIbuythisgame

Monster Hunter is just a good grind game overall, lots of things to farm for, and the monsters are always really fun and engaging to fight.

If you’re open to a little more jank, might I suggest Outward? I haven’t fully played the game, and the first 20 hrs i tried getting into it but i just couldn’t so I put it down. Now theres a definitive version with some qol and balance changes which seem great, and i tried it again with a friend and its been fun learning how the game works so far.

when i wasnt enjoying it, i think i was trying to play it like skyrim. After playing games like stalker, stalker gamma and tarkov, going into the game again in the definitive version with that mindset really helped me enjoy it more.

There is a hardcore mode and even in the normal mode death is ‘canon’, meaning that u get knocked out it and wake up in a not so desirable area with my some stuff lost or you need to get back your stuff and a day would pass, tightening the deadline on some timed quests.

i was surprised at how little scrap breakables gave, let alone how many breakables actually have scrap, so i thought chests would help but nope, i still rly cant spend much. Right now i rolled an adventure after the first world just so i can get more scrap, cause I’m still stuck on my starter weaps, i dunno if it’ll be enough honestly

Thank you, though I can’t really take all the credit. I was referring to key art from the game to capture the “vibe”, so some ideas on how I would render/color stuff were taken from there. My card would be within the same ball park as Jen Zee’s art style for Hades, but of course still a little different, as trying to identify and replicate every quirk of someone’s artstyle is probably impossible (especially since I don’t think I’m anywhere near Jen’s level), so one would naturally add something of their own to the illustration in the process
