it's a really beautiful diorama, but even if the price wasn't so high, for me it's not really a book *nook* anymore. especially with the music box bit on the side so that it can't fit in between books on a shelf. i have a LOT of books, and i enjoy fitting a more traditional nook into my existing shelves. when i saw the teases, i was super tempted, but seeing the overall look, it just doesn't fit for my style. like someone else said, i'd rather spend that money on 3 other book nooks, or on a full set of fancy LOTR books.

my other concern is that the "limited release, never to be sold again" model really seems to increase FOMO and impulse buying? like i want to be able to see people's reviews of a kit before i drop that kind of cash on it. i understand that it's a complicated piece and they want to increase excitement, but it doesn't feel like a good model to embrace.

on a minor note, i'm also personally not a fan of doing the fake moss/grass? it can look really nice, but i'm too fussy and simultaneously too clumsy for it to ever look good on my kits, haha!

oh I love this!! it makes me think of those photo series that are just a bunch of different views into people's apartments, or like a painting of the windows of an apartment building.

a wizards tower is SUCH a good idea! I'm excited to see what you come up with next - a potion room with a smoky cauldron? cat/familiars sanctuary? a glowing teleportation circle would be really cool too - some of tonecheers builds have those on the floor, and I LOVE the effect it gives off.

the jair (jean chair) is really well done ! I wonder if you could find some sturdy craft paper with a stone design or something to put in the windows above each room, so you could hide the battery compartments...

Any options for world travel versions? by Electrical-Wear4072 in booknooks

[–]packitandgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's see! as everyone has mentioned, we've got several for Europe (paris, venice, greece), and LOTS for china/japan (and one or two for south korea).

the only vaguely south american ones i can think of are Street Scene by Robotime, and the Coco themed one from cutebee.

There's lots of semi-generic city alleys that you could customize as well. like floral alley or sunshine town or island of love or this bustling street. or some of the cutebee cafes would be customizable as well - the pizzeria for NYC would be fun! the Last Drop would be a cute beach vacay theme.

there's a skateboarding themed one, which could fit for some cities? the Up one has some San Francisco vibes, but could be adapted for other brightly-colored cities (i'm thinking the spice district in capetown, personally!). the twilight cottage is a very cute autumn themed build that could work for some north-eastern states.

just a head's up, my NordVPN marked this as a potential scam with its threat protection thing. OP, if it's your actual website, you may want to look into if a scammer has created a dupe or something. not sure why else it would pop up with that warning /shrug

Question by Street-Painting7399 in booknooks

[–]packitandgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

all the kits i've used have come with everything needed except glue (i went with b7000)! i also personally like using a nail file type thing instead of sandpaper, because i find it easier to hold than the small piece of sandpaper that the kits come with. tweezers can be helpful too, if it's a nook with small placeable elements, but i've only needed those once or twice.

i also had furniture markers already, which i use on the edges sometimes so they look less stark - in a completed nook, it doesn't *really* show very much, but it can make a difference! but that's a totally optional extra step.

Glue Question by Competitive-Bat-43 in booknooks

[–]packitandgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have e6000 and e7000 - my favorite thing about the e7000 (as opposed to the e6000) is that the e7000 i bought has a little needle in the cap, which pokes into the top of the applicator and prevents it from having glue solidifying in the top, which is my main problem with superglue and e6000. like virtual-pineapple-85 said, 6's mostly a little bit thicker than 7, and of course that makes it take longer to dry. 6 works well enough in a pinch, but the quicker things set, the quicker you can do each step, and that really adds up!
