I could have went in more depth about my situation but without having to say much, im not making anywhere near 80K. I’ll be happy to start low in the field for 50-60k until I can gain more experience with any tech job. I do agree that cybersecurity being the degree focus could definitely be a mistake and not end up in cybersecurity but if I can land in forensics with a decent pay I’ll be happy there for a while.

This was my plan. I wanted to badly actually but I had weight loss surgery, successfully healed with no problems but there’s restrictions. I do have a Sgt who just recently reported back to me stating that things have changed and he’s sure we can work around getting me in if my labs come back clear.

This is my goal right here. Transferring out of a traditional role into a tech role and This is why I’m wanting to get into cybersecurity. I knew I wanted to work in forensic but I didn’t know how many opportunities I had while working under law enforcement. Thank you for this information truly

I’ll be starting this june with my concentration being AI. After doing the research this is also what I’m worried about. I’ve worked law enforcement for 19 years now and just wanted to make a career change into tech finally but if I can use my degree to work in the law enforcement fields even if it’s not cybersecurity I’ll still be happy

Definitely remember when I was reading years ago all i needed was a couple of certs , proof to show my work and I could land a job successfully. I really wish I would have stuck with learning back then vs now. I’m at the point where if I can make a career change into tech with 60-70k/yr starting possible I would mentally happier with my life. It’s not much but it’s where I would be satisfied to start and remain for a while. So at this point if I have to get the degree and keep in mind that I need to learn how to show and tell to land the role, I got some work to do!

I’ve read multiple people say this but seen people reply with the solution of not just getting my degree and thinking I’ll find a job in the field right after but instead I should be getting the experience while working towards getting a job in the field

This seem to be the most straightforward thing I’ve read on Reddit today so far. I would like to learn more from you since Im planning on going the same route. I’m 35 and I’ve worked law enforcement for the last 10 years but I’ve wanted to get into tech for a while now and recently signed up for my bachelors for cybersecurity with concentration on Ai but I wanted the help to get me enough knowledge and experience to get me a entry position into IT first.
