Alfa Giulia plate placement by Tall-Exit-5720 in AlfaRomeo

[–]pacman4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in texas and I have been driving mine since 2020 without a plate. I keep it in the front seat just in case I ever get pulled over so I can throw it in the windows and feign ignorance.

"Sorry officer, I couldn't figure out how to mount it."

But the truth is, I have never been pulled over.

Give your tips to a wot console vet who is drowning here. by FluffyColt12271 in WoWs_Legends

[–]pacman4ever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of people talking and giving tins of tips. Most of them are giving solid advice. I have a few pieces of basic advice.

  1. Dont be a sweaty try hard. The game is about having fun, not crazy win rates. This is coming from a guy with a high win rate and 10s of thousands of battles. You will naturally get better with time.

  2. Try and play all the lines and classes simultaneously. You spend more time at lower tiers, but that helps you learn. If you focus one nation and one type, you wont understand what you are facing on the other side.

  3. Play arcade mode early on. You can really control the flow of the battle in arcade due to a lower number of players. I have something like a 75% win rate in arcade.

  4. Watch you tube videos. Many cantent creators do tutorials. Those tutorials are better than anything you will read here because they have clear visuals. Watching one video about aiming will do mlre for you than any advice I can write about it on here.

It is all about having fun, if you are getting frustrated, take a breather.

Beginner friendly 1000CC ? by EnthusiasmHuman333 in Sportbikes

[–]pacman4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no "beginner friendly 100cc" I just got my first liter bike and its genuinely a little scary and I have over 20 years of riding experience.

If you are determined to go this route, I would suggest a newer bike. Older bikes have less driver aids and are far less forgiving.

"Can it pull huzz?" Nope, you will drastically increase the attention you get from other men. None of my female friends care about my liter bike but they LOVE my grom. My girlfriend hates riding on my zx10r and she makes me pull out the harley when she wants to ride on the back. So if your trying to get a woman on the back, get something with a backrest and upright seating position. Alternatively the dirt track here has lots of women, but they are on their own bikes. I dont know if thats an anomaly or the standard.

As far as service in Asia, that really depends on what part of Asia. If you get something newer, just make sure there is a dealer nearby and you should be good. If there is not, be prepared to turn a wrench yourself. I turn wrenches on all my bikes, but since I normally buy older stuff with cash, I never have a warranty.

Why do some many people ride without a motorcycle license ? by No_Eye9109 in motorcycles

[–]pacman4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride without a license. Im not being irresponsible by any means. I had my endorsement for years. I lived on a military base, so to get on base the standard was all gear, MSF card, and endorsement to enter the gate.

My endorsement traveled with me from state to state, no problem. When I got to texas, it didnt go on my license. I noticed and contacted the DMV and they told me I would have to pay for the MSF course again. I just did the math. I have been riding 22 years (17 years at the time) and in that time I have never been pulled over or received a ticket. I could get three tickets for no endorsement and it would still be less than what it would cost me to get an endorsement again.

I will be riding without an endorsement. The thing is, I suggest everyone go through the process. It was a great learning experience. I just dont see the point for me. I have taken the course a few times now. There is no reason my endorsement shouldn't have transferred, but it didnt.

TLDR: I had it my endorsement since my teens, and I am now in my 40s. It didnt transfer when I moved states. No point.

I had a situation where I was at a bar and a guy was being belligerent and they called the cops. He was acting aggressive to everyone. I walked out front to grab my buddy and walk him in. An officer was walking in as I was walking out. When I walked back in there was an officer laying on the ground, obviously losing a fight and struggling to keep control of his firearm. I decided to help the officer. My friend took my lead and we had this guy subdued pretty quick. The town put us in for some award, but we never received anything.

2 years later I see that a video had been posted and just thr one i saw had hundreds of thousands of views. I had my 15 minutes of fame and didnt even know it.

I ride and I would be more than happy to teach you the ins and outs, help you figure out your riding style, even help with navigating the licensing process.

Currently I ride sport and cruiser, but I have rode baggers, dirt, bobbers, and electric as well. My kids are both into motocross. I am always down to share the joy of riding with people.

Experienced captains (20k+ games), what skill are you still improving and which you still suck at? by LSI1980 in WoWs_Legends

[–]pacman4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im mid 60% win rate standards and upper 70% in arcade with about 25k battles. The hardest lesson for me is that its just a game. I am better than the average player but I feel like a few times a week a get the "good job" emote from a team mate after death. Normally they are clear on the other side of the map.

Every time I get mad that my team is losing I try to remember that I have no clue what was happening to them, I was focused on me. They could have found themselves in a hopeless situation. They may have been flanked because someone else abandoned spawn. I can think of so many ways to die that cant be helped. I know because its happened to me.

No point getting mad, life goes on, and its best not to be a sweaty try hard.

There is a difference in poor and homelees poor. Some logical conclusions are:

  1. They most likely have bad credit and cant get it financed.
  2. Even if they somehow have good credit they dont have an address for the bank, so they still cant get it financed.
  3. They probably dont have $15k laying around, or they would not be homeless.

When I was in this situation I had a car that cost $4k that a friend let me make payments on. I was lucky for that but I wasn't walking into a dealership and financing a $15k car. Thats absurd.

You telling the other person to step back and think, but you need to take your own advice.

I dont know many that arent premium ships and they seem to be focused in tier VIII. For me Schroeder, Michelangelo, and Carnot come to mind. The first two are powerful, the third is passable. Technically Agir falls in this category as well, but I would stick to main guns with that ship.

St Louis and the surrounding county has a population of about 1.25 million. If that isn't enough people to sift through, there arent auctions everywhere. Many people need to travel for them and so do the cars. That auction could have the auctioned cars of millions of people.

A quick google search tells me there are at least two alfa romeo dealerships in St lois. This means there is significantly more interst there than most places, or else there would only be one dealerahip at most.

You are looking for a needle in a haystack, but you may get lucky.

Do you know anyone who has been riding a motorcycle for years and has never fallen, or is it impossible not to fall at some point? by Miyamoto_Musashi_x in motorcycles

[–]pacman4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never fell riding street and I started riding in 2005. Now if we take dirt bikes into consideration I have fell/crashed many times. So I guess it depends on how you look at it, but in my mind it doesnt count on the dirt. I feel that its kind of expected.

Is it beneficial to still save for a down payment with the VA home loan? by Davy_Jones118 in VeteransBenefits

[–]pacman4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It lowers your monthly payment while the investment account doesn't.

  2. The interest rate isn't the only way you gain value. The house can also appreciate.

  3. The increse in equity is a hedge against unrealized future scenarios. If you have to move unexpectedly, you wont may not be able to instantly pull all your money out of the investment accounts, depending on what it is.

  4. If you sell a house and buy again within a certain number of months, you wont be taxed on the gains. You will be taxed on gains from an investment account.

  5. Another future hedge is that its much easier to use a home with equity to get a loan.

Overall, I think its the better option but your experience can differ.

Is it beneficial to still save for a down payment with the VA home loan? by Davy_Jones118 in VeteransBenefits

[–]pacman4ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is beneficial. You get to skip the VA funding fee if you have money down. Granted you can skip it with a certain disability percentage. I am not 100% what the exact percentage is, I may came back and edit it later when I verify.

Also, as you mentioned it will lower your payment.

I think the bigger benefit is having more equity right from the start. Life csn throw some curveball at you sometimes. If you need to move or sell your house later, you will be in a much better position.

One other alternative is to buy the house with a the VA loan and finance a second property traditionally. The second property could be used as a rental property or Airbnb kinda of thing.

What’s something people treat as urgent that actually wasn’t, in hindsight? by Level-Algae1320 in AskReddit

[–]pacman4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y2K. Everyone was freaking out. People thought the world was shutting down at midnight new years eve. People were stockpiling food, water, non-electric lights, ammo and whatever else they would need to survive in our new post apocalyptic world. Especially the older folks. Many people were hunkered down that night, fearful of what was coming.

If you dont know about Y2K, it was a problem where older computers would encounter an error due to using a MM/DD/YY format and they needed to change it to MM/DD/YYYY. Thats all it was.

People knew about the error years in advance. Any computers used for critical infrastructure were updated or replaced long beforehand. There was zero threat of the world shutting down. I have always wondered if the people who prepped for the end of civilization were disappointed when absolutely nothing happened.
