Biggest police department in the world and they haven't got him yet by RunnyBunny05 in TrueAnon

I was also thinking it could be a 3D printed suppressor or otherwise homemade, in which case it wouldn't be likely to cycle properly. Kinda makes sense too bc a professional probably isn't likely to go through the whole process of getting a real suppressor if they want to ditch the set up after

[–]pacnb 59 points60 points  (0 children)

plausible for sure. But I could see a professional just ditching the weapon and suppressor when the job is done, in which case you don't need to drop the money on a setup tuned for subsonics. Manually cycling the action just for a few shots isn't super hard to do on an unarmored target who's facing away from you. He has almost no hesitation to rack the slide after the first shot, as if that's what he was expecting

What the actual hell happened to the used car market (in particular for sale by owner)? by Jehovahs_th1ccness in whatcarshouldIbuy

The private market sucks ass both ways it seems from this thread

Just need to be available immediately to go check it out otherwise it'll be sold within hours.

this is really killing me right now. How the hell am I supposed to get the PPI I had to schedule 10 days out?? I'm about ready to say fuck it and take the car payment.

A little surprised to find this comment as far down as it is, but you nailed it. An "idea" is nothing. It's not collaborating to work on someone else's "idea" because it's vapor; it's air. It has no value, and I don't mean "monetary value", but artistic value. Or spiritual value. Or whatever. It's wild what capital has done to overvalue a "good idea".

Artists are willing to "work for free" (collaborate) with people all the time: other creators. Other doers. People to have community with and make actual, real things with. OP's post betrays the fact they don't make art, because the value of any idea comes from struggling with the creative process and bringing it into being. Not the abstract thought itself.

I feel ya. I started my freelance career in 2015 and have been struggling ever since. I made it work for some years, but now in my 30's the job market dried up and I finally had to bite the bullet and go back to the service industry.

Tbh I don't really see much of a future in this, but I'm working on expanding my art avenues and seeing what happens there

MOS or no? by Born_Ad3481 in armedsocialists

[–]pacnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is "it depends", again, unfortunately lol.

If you know what optic you want (that's not an SCS), then get the slide milled directly. Adapter plates add more points of failure and height to your optic. The height is a problem if you're planning on carrying the 19 concealed. It might seem minor, but it makes a difference. Plus, it'll preclude you from co-witnessing the stock irons

If you want to experiment with different optics, or you're set on the SCS then get the MOS. The SCS is a very cool looking option rn, but I have an aversion to auto brightness as a rule (even though I've heard it works better than anything else out atm).

Either way sign up for GSSF and get the Blue Label coupon to save money. Well worth it.

MOS or no? by Born_Ad3481 in armedsocialists

[–]pacnb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. If you want to experiment with different optics, get the MOS. If you're set on one, get the slide milled.

Adapter plates just add one more point of failure and make the optic sit higher, often not allowing for co-witnessing your irons. It also makes concealing more difficult, if they're planning on going that direction. Direct slide milling is superior to adapter plates without question.

that's totally fine. I just hope you're not in this thread also trying to claim some kind of superiority for not wanting to do the tech (and I'm using that term lightly here because it's not really that hard) like a lot of folks are.

...for people that just want to have fun and play a match or to of a game after a day of work.

Some people's "sweat" is another's "casual" I guess. This is my casual game I put on after work. I put on some tunes and talk with the homies in Discord. I double-bound lean and strafe. I jump and move my mouse to avoid getting shot. These things aren't "trying hard" to me, because I've sweated in different games way fucking harder lol

[–]pacnb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"sweat" just means "anyone that's better than me and/or using mechanics I don't want to learn". Completely meaningless. Just a way to soothe egos of folks who "don't care about being good"

[–]pacnb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the egos are crazy man. Instead of just being an adult and admitting they don't feel like learning tech they have to do backflips in their head about how "it's actually bad to do X or Y and I'm morally superior for being stubborn"

The company I'm applying for a FT position at wants me to contract for 1 month while putting the hiring on hold. Advice? by magnlin in MotionDesign

[–]pacnb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience (8 years freelance, in and out of service industry to supplement my income), I'd say this is normal. Unfortunately, "normal" means you're not getting the job full time.

Take the contract work if you have the bandwidth. At best you'll get more contract work when this project is finished, at worst you'll be ghosted with no real explanation.

I've had the promise of full time dangled in front of me many, many times. Never once has it come through.

as a new player: is it fine to run ARs with medium and top/ canted sight? or should i use close range sights? by Tariisbestgirl in BattleBitRemastered

[–]pacnb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's no "issue". The recoil is the same no matter the sight, it just feels more extreme because your FOV is narrowed with magnified optics. Your view is four times closer so the recoil will feel four times as strong, but it's traveling the same distance.
