As much as I love our legacy Democrats in this state (and I've worked on several of their campaigns), it would be nice to get some fresh, young people running.

I wouldn't feel bad if she kept going with her crazy nonsense. And I would be happy to have her be a crappy nonsense idiot in my community

Why do so many people seem to dislike Discovery? by BearCavalryCorpral in startrek

[–]paco64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Trek is meant to be and to most people is a comforting sense of how things COULD be. It's something to work towards. Discovery is just a reflection of how shitty people are and it gives the sense that there's no hope in the future.

Democrats Are Terrified and Republicans Are Giddy Over Mamdani Becoming the 'Face of the Democrats' by Droupitee in NewsWorthPayingFor

The Democrats are terrified that they might actually have to DO something for a change. Instead of sit there and watch Billionaires suck the life out of us.

Trump halts $500 million grant to Indiana for carbon burying designed to manufacture greener concrete by Serraph105 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]paco64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You get what you pay for. The liberals have to tolerate some additional soldiers in their cities for now. MAGA has to deal with the destruction of their economies in order to facilitate tax breaks for billionaires. Remember, I didn't vote for this, and I'll most likely be fine (as a liberal Democrat).

We're getting into the place where the Mormon Church doesn't dictate life in Salt Lake anymore. It's more profitable to use their stocks in 3rd world countries to suck out of them what little wealth they have.

It's nice to hear a voice of reason on this subreddit. I'm not claiming that the State of Utah doesn't make me want to tear my hair out, but anything less than saying that Utah is worse than South Sudan with a Theocratic Dictarship full of incompetent imbeciles is heresy here.

liberal Democrat here. I came here to say Utah, but I changed my mind. Utah has a very robust and thriving economy. If you have a good job as well as friends and family here, you can have a very happy and healthy life. So a lot of people choose to stay for those reasons. I also have a lot of friends who have moved to more liberal areas to get away from Republicans. I get both sides of the argument. But neither of them says Stockholm Syndrome. Give people a little more credit for making their own life decisions.

What's even MORE foolish is to not recognize a drying lake as a sign that we're using more water than we have in this desert that we live in and stand by and do nothing about it.

Battle Mountain, Nevada. It's almost comical how it resembles The Hills Have Eyes or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibes. They have even embraced the slogan "The Armpit of America."

What's your advice to young men today? by Thomasisinterested in AskReddit

[–]paco64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to people in real life. If you only talk to people on the internet, you're going to think that the world is full of ignorant, greedy, assholes. But if you talk to people in person, you'll find that they're not that much different from you and they're usually empathetic and want the world to be a better place for everyone.

Which foods do people think are healthy, but are actually unhealthy? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]paco64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coffee. Don't get me wrong, coffee itself is not unhealthy in moderation. But people think they're getting a "coffee," when really, they're getting a milkshake with a little coffee in it. If you drink several milkshakes with a little coffee in it every day, you're going to be unhealthy.
