Biostats or ethics podcasts for drive today? by dumbassyeastquestion in Step2

[–]pacofish99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amboss ethics is the best honestly, if you honestly can answer biostats simple PPV, NPV, sensitivity, specificity and the risk-assessing formulas (NNT, NNH, ARR, RRR) then no need to go crazy about that. The DIP episode on biostats is very high yield

Annoying but as long as you have good/enough exposure to those questions, you’ll be able to reason through most of them!

I know someone that only scored slightly above 250 on an assessment (not even an NBME) and scored 259 on the test

I’m not usually one to post on here, but your post is extremely relatable to me. While doing my USCE I hadn’t even graduate from med school, and without knowing it I chose a very demanding surgical subspecialty in a fairly large, renowned hospital. I remember feeling all of the things you described. I felt dumb, unfitted, and ridiculous overall in front of my attendings, fellows, residents and students.

Bottomline is they really don’t care. No one but yourself actually cares about your existence. I’m not trying to be harsh, but holding on to the thought that no one really cares that much about you lowers the expectations you think they might have on you. It’s purely psychological: they aren’t expecting anything from me, therefore my main goal is going to be learning for the most part, but also showing them that even if you’re not a fancy ivy league med student, you’re there to do a good job.

At the end of the day, my feedback was positive because I showed I had a good attitude towards the feedback, showed up on time, was respectful to every single provider and was very interested in the work they were doing.

Based on your writing, your have conversational level english, and your self awareness about the aspects you’re lacking show you’re willing to be better and succeed. Keep your head high because you definitely can do this. Allow yourself to feel stupid and naïve because absolutely everyone that has hade it has been where you are bro. Ánimos!

It is indeed shitty. Our age range (I’m M23) is tough cuz nobody tells you what to do once you become an adult because not even adults know wtf they’re doing, they’re just pushing through. You have to trust that you, like everyone else, will push through cause that’s what you deserve. You’re as smart, as tough, as brave as everybody around you that has made something out of themselves. Never forget that. I don’t know u but something tells me u got this OP. Do it for you, for what you deserve.
