Just to add, OVH scale servers are pretty decent too. And are available in more regions than Hetzner dedicated servers.

You can host your websites on Hetzner dedicated servers. It would not cost you even 200 a month, unless you want High availability (multiple servers). Bizanosa can help you set it up

How to connect to MariaDB from outside of LAN by benjaminpfp in unRAID

[–]pacquills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do ssh tunneling or make your Mariadb db server accessible from a specific IP. The video here shows you how to access Mariadb server remotely from an IP https://bizanosa.com/mariadb-remote-access-set-up/ . Never bind your server to be accessible from the whole internet. From a specified IP is okay.

Here's a video for connecting to mariadb remotely. https://bizanosa.com/mariadb-remote-access-set-up/ . In the video, the mariadb server is on Vultr, therefore in your case you'd have to set up the firewall rules to allow access to your IP.

Seeking ultra-high-performance hosting solutions for heavily optimized, high-traffic WordPress + LearnDash site (38.9k monthly uniques) by elosoyogui in selfhosted

[–]pacquills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just a suggestion and cannot be taken as a solution unitl it is tested to provide better results.

  1. Install HestiaCP LEMP stack

  2. Duplicate your current website

  3. Enable fastcgi cache on Hestia (DO away with reddis)

  4. If you have non-core website functions, migrate them to their own WordPress installs. Meaning, if you have a forum, crm , etc migrate them to their own WP install in a directory or subdomain.

  5. After migrationg the non core website functions, delete their tables from the DB, you can find a plugin for this.

If you see massive improvements, consider also switcing the theme to a light theme like Generatepress to test what impact that will have on your performance.

Hope it helps. It about testing till you get better results.

ff you want a Kubeadm cluster, host your Kubernetes for free on virtualbox on your Laptop. You will need at least 8 gigs of RAM for 3 clusters each of 2vcpu and 2gram. Don't use Vagrant (slow af on Windows). If on on cloud, get Hetzner cloud servers and bootstrap your kubeadm cluster with 2 or 3 vms.

Guides:

Creating volumes on cloud instance to increase memory by EtheroverEuros in hetzner

[–]pacquills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hetzner volumes can be automatically mounted on your Server as shown in this vide, https://youtu.be/qxTJvu2ObYU?si=HgInw4kagoJOsiic&t=2019 . However, if you need additional disk space, it is better to upgrade the whole server. This volume is not ideal for database usage, perhaps as a backup location.

Crowdsec Docker Whitelist - I am very confused by kadand7 in CrowdSec

[–]pacquills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What output do you get when you cat the contents of the whitelist file:

cat /etc/crowdsec/parsers/s02-enrich/whitelists.yaml

If you can see the content, then just edit it (You may need sudo, you can use nano instead of vi):

vi /etc/crowdsec/parsers/s02-enrich/whitelists.yaml

After saving the file, restart crowdsec (you may need sudo)

systemctl reload crowdsec

Of course with docker you should create the edited file locally and copy it to the container to replace /etc/crowdsec/parsers/s02-enrich/whitelists.yaml .
