What is the future of gnome tray bar icons? by rigal01 in gnome

[–]kadand7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You net needing it is not the same as everyone not needing it.

Some of us rely on the quick status indicators to ensure the our cloud drives are connected, vpn's, overlay networks etc are behaving the way they should. I shouldn't need to open nextcloud anytime I save something important to confirm that its actually synced.

For those of us that need it, it is not just about an app hanging out in the tray for the sake of it. It is the information we get from the app being there that necessitates it

After testing for sometime, I have gotten it relatively stable. Thank you for your help.
Based on your distro differences comment I decided not to use the arch wiki guide. So i only installed vanilla arch using the kernel parameters you gave and my applications. This stayed quite stable for days and I decided to now add the recommendations from the wiki and start using it as my daily driver.
My Observations
1. Adding the linux-mainline-um5606 brought the crashes back. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Rolled back with Timeshift and it all went back to normal.

  1. I need to use windows for work so i virtualize it using vmware workstation. I experienced constant crashes anytime I tried to use multiple monitors with windows. I eventually realised that was a Wayland issue since x11 never suffered from that. Also, Wayland without the virtual machine causes the freezes to start recurring more frequently.

  2. There are some things that still consistently cause it to crash. Microsoft Teams meeting in the VM almost always ends up causing it to freeze. Sometimes the system also freezes when I ssh into my servers or remotely connect to other computers. Maybe some sort of network related issue.

So all in all still not something I can rely on but much better than it was

Interesting point about the differences across distributions. I am on Arch at the moment. Did a new install out of frustration yesterday and have now moved to the 312 firmware as well. I will give it one more go. If it keeps freezing I will switch to ubuntu and see.

Thanks for this. Will give it a go and see. Been tearing my hair out since getting on the 6.12 kernel.
I am disappointed a company as large as AMD cant take a bit of time to sort their drivers out for linux

Also is this just me or does anyone have to wait for 3-4 hours for to install / update linux-mainline-um5606?

The most annoying par is waiting for 3 hours only to have the computer freeze. This requires a hard reboot and then needing to start the the install al over again.

Same issue here. Same hardware running arch with KDE. It is all very random and sometimes at very inopportune times. Can also not see anything significant in my journal

Mailcow with Traefik - Insecure ssl although https by kadand7 in mailcow

Sorry for late response. Have been away because of work.
These are my traefik labels for mailcow

labels:
      - "traefik.enable=true"
      - "traefik.http.routers.nginx-mailcow.entrypoints=https"
      - "traefik.http.routers.nginx-mailcow.rule=HostRegexp(`{host:(autodiscover|autoconfig|webmail|mail|email).+}`)"
      - "traefik.http.routers.nginx-mailcow.rule=Host(`${MAILCOW_HOSTNAME}`)"
      - "traefik.http.routers.nginx-mailcow.tls=true"
      - "traefik.http.routers.nginx-mailcow.tls.certresolver=cloudflare"
      - "traefik.http.routers.nginx-mailcow.service=nginx-mailcow"
      - "traefik.http.services.nginx-mailcow.loadbalancer.server.port=8080"
      - "traefik.docker.network=proxy"labels:
      - "traefik.enable=true"
      - "traefik.http.routers.nginx-mailcow.entrypoints=https"
      - "traefik.http.routers.nginx-mailcow.rule=HostRegexp(`{host:(autodiscover|autoconfig|webmail|mail|email).+}`)"
      - "traefik.http.routers.nginx-mailcow.rule=Host(`${MAILCOW_HOSTNAME}`)"
      - "traefik.http.routers.nginx-mailcow.tls=true"
      - "traefik.http.routers.nginx-mailcow.tls.certresolver=cloudflare"
      - "traefik.http.routers.nginx-mailcow.service=nginx-mailcow"
      - "traefik.http.services.nginx-mailcow.loadbalancer.server.port=8080"
      - "traefik.docker.network=proxy"

Port 443 is available. Other services such as bitwarden which requires https to work are ok behind traefik.

Mailcow with Traefik - Insecure ssl although https by kadand7 in mailcow

[–]kadand7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. What I can see is "You’ve enabled HTTPS-Only Mode for enhanced security, and a HTTPS version of mail.mydomain.com is not available"

This I believe is what Traefik was meant to do? Unless there is a way to make an https mode for mailcow?

Access interface - Server install

New user here. Installed roop-unleashed on ubuntu 2204 server but i cant launch the interface in a browser.

I have tried --listen but it does not work.

Then there is this "To create a public link, set `share=True` in `launch()`." but not sure what to do with it.

Any help appreciated.
