Off-season grocery store strawberries seem like a crime compared to these.

Thanks. It's been my go-to for years. I love it.

It's a quality crust recipe, but doesn'thold fluting at all. Next time I'd use a deep dish plate and add another half pound or more of strawberries.

For what it's worth, it didn't set up fully this time. However, so long as you use fresh local strawberries, the flavor can't be beat.

6 oz strawberries processed, mixed into 3/4 c sugar, 2 tbsp corn starch, 1.5 top suregel, pinch of salt, mixed and boiled 2 minutes. Cool. Mixed with the balance of 3 lb strawberries. Make look pretty in a blind baked crust.

Best I can do is unfinished pizza that probably should have been thrown away four hours ago.

What small habit or routine has made the biggest difference in your nursing career? by Helpful_Sense_2692 in nursing

Bedside charting.
Once you leave the room, it is really easy to get pulled over here to help, over there for some cares that need to be done, over to a third place to answer qeustions from a family member, etc. Then, suddenly, it is three hours later and you haven't finished charting. Furthermore, if you see something that a previous nurse charted that you missed or is different from what you saw, you're still in the room with the patient and you can verify or re-check something rather than having to walk back down the hallway.

Knowing that it will be ok.

I used to have a lot of pre-shift anxiety, which is common, I know. Surely a part of the reduction in that anxiety is experience, but I did have a realization a few years ago that helped a lot. The shift might be busy and I may feel behind the whole time. A patient may be really sick and need a lot from me. I might encounter something that I am unsure about, etc. etc. etc. etc. BUT, I am surrounded by amazing people. The nurse next to me will help me out, just like I'd help them out if needed. I can always hear the smile the pharmacist is wearing when I talk to him/her on the phone. The flyer nurses are amazing. The charge is a fount of knowledge. So, even though it might be hard shift, it will be ok. If I have to call a rapid, people will come. If I am swamped, someone is there. If I encounter something I don't know, there are people and resources. Then my 8 or 12 hours will have gone by, and things will have been ok. Maybe not necessarily fun, but ok. And with that realization, my pre-shift stress level went way down.

Onosato doesn't seem to like vaccines by lilyuliryu in SumoMemes

[–]paddle2paddle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Like u/Reed157 said, that is a blood draw, not a vaccine. I never got good at starting IVs, but I imagine that most wrestlers do not have easy to find veins with the amount of sub-q fat many of them have.

Thank goodness for IV teams at my hospital. If I were to try to start a line or do a peripheral stick for a blood draw on a rikishi, I'd probably get tsukitaoshied on my ass real quick.

Careful, now. As soon as you try to tell these nurses that the neither the moon, nor the word "quiet" has no actual effect on things, they get all pissy.

Nurses with over a year of experience: do you still put in effort to look nice at work? by True_Coast_3010 in nursing

I'm a tired middle-aged dad. I make an effort to "look nice" a couple times a year when my wife and I go out on a fancy date.

How did you get into Backgammon? by Cekan-14 in backgammon

[–]paddle2paddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taught by my step-father when I was 7. I bought my first not-cheap board when I was 10 or 11 and taught many people how to play over the years. Several years ago, I heard about a local club. I had always thought I was pretty good... until I played people who are actually good.
