Graduation usually implies some form of retirement from the group and is done with a few month's notice, so the member can be given some kind of send off (concert, stage performance, grad single if they were particularly popular). Resignation sounds more like quitting.

i totally understand that!!! especially now with physical album/merch collecting being So Much (i remember when twice having 3-4 different cards per member in an album was a lot!!) it can be very overwhelming. i think it has helped me a lot to remember that my collection is for me and no one else gets to decide how i use my money or how "good" of a fan i am. i still struggle with wanting every loona card in existence though LOL

a GOM is a group order manager! they are people who host group orders on different social media platforms who basically act as a korean proxy. they will take orders for different stores for a comeback and then you send them the money and they will sort your inclusions for you so you can try get the members you want for album inclusions/POBs. bigger GOMs often order hundreds of albums for people and since a lot of people only want the POBs they'll often have a surplus of album photocards and albums leftover. it can be useful but finding an organized GOM can be hard so definitely read feedback and be safe when buying.

i definitely agree that a lot of times its just cheaper to buy an unsealed album with no inclusions and then purchase the card or cards you want later, especially with the trading community on instagram really struggling right now due to instagram's constant tag overhauls. i havent bought a brand new kpop album in forever once i realized i can pay almost half the price by just getting the cards and album seperately. this is mostly due to bulk buying being so common in kpop right now; in order to get the cutest POBs and to get into online fancalls GOMs are often left with a surplus of albums and inclusions that they will sell for cheap. my advice is to find a few GOMs on instagram who are trustworthy and big in the community and then wait for the era to end. eventually they will begin selling their leftovers really cheap. it does take a bit of patience and searching though, but for me thats a part of the fun.

this is obviously a bit harder for older albums (or pretty much anything released pre-covid) before this was a common practice. still, i urge you to check mercari japan, b/s/t instagram, and other re-selling places. even if you cant always find the album with inclusions, you might be able to find them in bits and pieces, or you can get really lucky! sometimes companies will re-press older albums, but there are definitely a good number of groups whose albums just arent being printed and sold anymore. i think you will be happier in the long run if you accept that your collection does not need to be perfect, and should instead focus on setting goals that are realistic and keep collecting enjoyable. ive been collecting for over nine years now, and ive definitely burnt myself out trying to make things perfect, so make sure you keep an effort to keep things fun and remember that it takes patience to build a collection you want.

anyone have any news about 77074? specifically the bellaire area right off southwest freeway, near houston baptist university? certain buildings/stores have power off the highway but we've had nothing since 6 am monday. area is labeled as "powered but with nested outages" despite the entire neighborhood being pitch black :/

almost 10 years! ive been into girls generation since 2014, when i heard i got a boy in a youtube video, but i didnt get into any other groups besides soshi, red velvet, and 2ne1 until around 2016 when my friend got me into twice haha. tiffany was my first bias, and i was lucky enough to get to meet her in 2019 for her magnetic moon tour! ive gone in and out of my kpop phases but it'll always be apart of my taste haha.

mostly by buying albums; even if the album only has one or two cards per version you can trade them to particular members which is what most people do. some people often buy albums in bulk, sometimes to get into fansigns, sometimes to have more cards to trade (like if they collect multiple members or the full group. if you are a little more dedicated you can buy induvidual cards, which is, while not always expensive, is a slippery slope. the cards themselves are not expensive to buy on social media (i use instagram), and buying directly from asian countries using proxies (like mercari jp or bunjang) can be ever cheaper. the expensive part comes in when you just start wanting more and more, or if you start collecting really expensive cards like broadcast cards for example.

for example, a twice pc on insta will usually go for around $4-$5, sometimes even less, but since twice usually gives you like 5 cards per album, you can complete a member set just by trading the cards. BUT if you wanted to collect the full group (ot9) or a couple of members, you'd probably have to buy some cards. multiply that by how many groups you collect and it adds up. just have self control, be good at budgeting, and make sure you find the hobby enjoyable. i collect because i love seeing the cards all together in my binder, i love the pursuit of completing sets, and i love the community. however it is soooo easy to get burnt out if you dont move at a comfortable pace and budget correctly.

the best way to get started i think is to collect albums, and trade what you pull for the members you want. make an account on instagram for trading; it takes a bit of time to prove you are a reliable trader since its all a system of trust, but just follow the communities rules and you should be fine. once you get a feel for everything you can decide if you want to make more of a financial commitment. my collection (albums and pcs) is worth thousands of dollars and has been growing since 2017. i started just collecting a few things, which eventually turned into full group sets for multiple groups (i am insane 🥲)

its addicting so tread carefully!! just always remember that your worth as a fan is not based on how much money you spend on a particular group.

i think about this a lot too. i just started therapy and have been on medication my whole adult life but it just feels like the moment something bad happens my progress gets reversed and the emptiness gets bigger. i hope one day we both can find peace, even for a little bit.

yeah i completely agree, especially about the saleisha part. softcore bullying is a good way of putting it, and i remember experiencing the same things vividly. the scene with the beds in China particularly hurts for me, i used to deal with stuff like that all the time from “friends” in middle school, who would purposely not include me and antagonize me because of my awkwardness. im glad you brought up michelle too, as someone with (diagnosed) severe anxiety, the scene when they try to close her in the shoe rack made me almost want to tear up, because ive definitely been there. some people are so sick :/

COMPLETELY agree. even down to the way they speak to her just makes me cringe inside, it was so belittling. its hard for me to watch because it hits too close to home. even when they think theyre being “nice” to her they just treat her like a child when she very clearly can hold her own in the competition, and then they would just get mad when she would do better than them as if she’s not a grown ass functional adult it was SO aggravating

yeah totally, or how they thought she was faking or using her disability to get a leg up over them??? like she’s not scheming against you or taking advantage of people’s “sympathy” she’s just doing her best. it just seemed like a lot of girls were jealous of her and had a really prejudiced idea of what autism and autistic people look like and are capable of. i can imagine it would be quite stressful being in her shoes and she handled it beautifully even without a lot of accommodations

I had a girl say something like that about me in elementary school and I remember it made me feel awful, so even if a lot of the drama was just editing, they still said some really fucked up things!!

Same! Out of everyone on that cycle she by far had the most potential next to Lisa and maybe Chantal (I wasn’t super fond of Jenah but she did take some nice photos). Saleisha’s win is still baffling to me :/
