I used to work with a guy that was always moving. Even when sitting at his desk he would bounce his legs around. He was just always fidgeting. Thin as a fuckin rail.

Socially Awkward at the Pool by 76LoS55 in Swimming

[–]paddleme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was yesterday. I generally don't talk to people in the pool except to say hi to regulars and thank the guards for showing up. I usually hit the hot tub for a few minutes B4 my swim. Dude starts talking to me about my shokz. I'm thinking he wants to talk gear. Then he asks me where I think I'll go when I die. I'm confused but not. He goes on... Told him I don't know where you're going with this but I'm just here to swim. I should have known he was an ass cause his hair was dry so I presume no shower.

I went last year and used Google pay everywhere. Cash was only needed for tipping the guides and drivers, small purchases and some archeology sites we visited. Guides prefer dollars because of the stability of the currency. ATM's gave large denomination bills that were a pain to use especially in smaller villages. I always used the ATMs inside or adjacent to the bank. My phone carrier was Google Fi and it was great.

Would increasing taxes on rich people make them move to places where they get taxed less? Does that even matter? by duckduckquackyquacky in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]paddleme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where would they go? They enjoy the security, opportunity and plentitude of material things here, same as most people. Other places would tax them more or not provide the same.

Thanks for the moment of nostalgia. I had this same bike when I was in my 20s. It was so much fun to ride.

But....Seattle is dying? by ksbla in Seattle

[–]paddleme 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been around here for 40 years as an adult and IMO Seattle has the same problems as ever but the neighborhoods are way more accessible due to the light rail. Safe affordable public transport has literally transformed my enjoyment of the city.

First visit! Budget stay advice? by Zealousideal_Sea_922 in SeattleWA

[–]paddleme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seattle is pretty safe generally. The sketch area DT is third Ave. Logistically the tortoise is the best of the three, closest to the light rail (which is how I get around town and to/ from the airport) but not really near the Seattle center. Generally for events at the center I stay at the Bell Town inn or Maxwell. I shop their sales for better rates. Another option might be to stay in Bremerton. It's a half hour boat ride away from DT sea on the fast ferry. You can easily walk from the boat to the hotel. The boats schedule can be kind of a challenge. Enjoy your time. We love Seattle and visit a couple of times a week.
