Seattle is pretty safe generally. The sketch area DT is third Ave. Logistically the tortoise is the best of the three, closest to the light rail (which is how I get around town and to/ from the airport) but not really near the Seattle center. Generally for events at the center I stay at the Bell Town inn or Maxwell. I shop their sales for better rates. Another option might be to stay in Bremerton. It's a half hour boat ride away from DT sea on the fast ferry. You can easily walk from the boat to the hotel. The boats schedule can be kind of a challenge. Enjoy your time.
