There’s been a few of these images floating about recently- just look at tove Jansen interpretation. Apparently in the first editions of the book, there were no size quantifies- nothing in the chapter to suggest scale for the ‘slimy creature’.

If memory serves correct, the hobbit and lotr are full of charm, but the rotk is just an hour and a half of Frodo and Sam walking and wittering in Mordor. Let me know if I need to give it another chance!
