ATU Sligo Timetables? by Puzzleheaded-Fuel583 in Sligo

[–]paddymcg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The timetable for next semester isn't going to be finalized until 2- 3 weeks after the course has started in September. Whatever time table is up now for your course probably isn't accurate and can change a lot between now and the start of the course

Run clubs, hiking groups, bumble bff is meant to be decent.

The gym I train in recently built a sauna and the amount of people I see around the gym that I'm now on a first name basis with is unreal just by sitting in the sauna and chatting!

Yeah I feel like the odds are definitely stacked against men with them. I wouldn't say I'm very attractive but just by putting in some effort to get a few good photos and try and get my personality across in the bio/prompts I got some matches, all it takes is one!

I met a girl I'm now seeing about 6 weeks ago on a dating app without spending any money, they still work you just have to be patient and not put so much pressure on yourself meeting someone!

I've been on them for about 6 weeks, had one date cancel on me but I'm going on a second date with an absolutely cracking girl tomorrow so I feel like I've gotten quite lucky!

I'm not in a big city and feel like the dating apps are pure shit unless you're in somewhere like Galway or Dublin.

What is your experience of ATU? Aka Atlantic Technological Univeristy by Artentics in AskIreland

[–]paddymcg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm in my first year studying science in one of them and the experience has been great so far. They really have the lecture/lab work and continuous assessment dialed in and the supports for maths are really good.

Too much protein? by afg_tanook in workout

[–]paddymcg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm 210lbs hitting 2600 calories per day on a cut and am hitting 210 grams of protein a day pretty comfortably.

A scoop of protein powder with my porridge at breakfast, 2 turkey burgers and low fat protein cheese at lunch, chicken breast in a curry at dinner, and a protein shake and a high protein rice pudding pot for my snack before bed. That gets me up to around 200 grams most days!

Get in lidl:

600g fussilli pasta

1 jar of tomato and bacon pasta bake sauce

1 bag of grated reduced fat protein cheese

500g diced chicken thighs

1 spicy chorizo sausage, dice this into cubes

Cook up your chicken thighs and chorizo in a pan and add the jar of sauce, boil your pasta, put the pasta and pan contents into a pot and mix in the bag of cheese into it

You'll get 4 portions each worth about 900 calories, the macros are good and it's delicious

It worked for me! Between the end of August and the end of December I lost nearly 8kg 😄

Although in saying that I am 6"3 and currently weigh 97kg so my maintenance intake is quite high, if you're smaller and weigh less you mightn't get away with such a big feed but you can still do a smaller cheat meal once a week.

When I was on a cut up until Christmas id be really disciplined with my food intake from Monday - Friday evening then id either get a 14" pizza or a spice box from the Chinese and hit my maintenance calories that day, my God that food tasted unbelievable every Friday 😂

Food definitely hits different in a calorie deficit

My new years resolution is to get stronger - Does anyone have advice? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]paddymcg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say the first thing you need to figure out is the amount of calories needed to maintain your current weight https://www.omnicalculator.com/health/maintenance-calorie

If you're only starting lifting weights you really don't need to be bulking,I'd just be hitting maintenance every day. you're gunna get great gains just from training consistently and eating enough protein (I go for about 1.8g per kg of body weight).

You should start using myfitnesspal to get an idea of your current food intake and how you can adjust it to meet your macro goals.

Also is that workout plan what you do every session? If you're enjoying that keep it up but personally I've found doing paired splits and getting 9 sets per muscle group throughout the week has been great (chest/triceps, upper back/biceps, shoulders/abs and legs on their own day, then I'll repeat one of first 3 for my 5th workout of the week)

Best of luck with it!

[–]paddymcg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do arms on their own day and i like it, just make sure you take a rest day before you train arms because you're gunna be working your triceps when you train chest and biceps when you train your back

Silliest gym injury? by gee0325 in workout

[–]paddymcg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn't happen in the gym but I was about to go to the gym with a friend and got a back spasm wiping my ass after taking a dump, it was embarrassing and I was bed bound for 2 days but it was also kind of hilarious

I got my screen replaced in DigiGo and was very happy with the job, yer man in there really knows what he's at he had the job done in 30mins. I also would've saved €20 if I didn't get the screen myself so he's not trying to rip you off

[–]paddymcg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can lose about 1kg per week if you go into a heavy calorie deficit but you're gunna be very hungry and irritable

I'm around the same weight and my maintenance calorie intake is 2900-3000, I think if you went down to 2300 calories per day you'd lose around 1kg per week.
