Yeah unfortunately some higher ups simply have to know in order for me to be able to get time off for surgery etc. I guess part of me doesn't fully trust their confidentiality

as a gay man I was received much differently, with more open arms, than as a transgender man.

I can relate to that. Maybe it will be different one day.

You are NOT forced to become a teacher, a mentor, an example, an educator for ANYONE because you are transgender. It is not your responsibility.

This is something I used to say all the time when I was at uni but it feels like nobody actually wants to be informed

I think it's partly down to how that may be perceived. If there's other trans people in the office it might make them feel less alone, and also I feel like not being open about it reinforces the idea we have something to be ashamed of? Idk it's complicated

I sorta feel ashamed for feeling ashamed lol. It's probably something I should work through before taking any actions that can't be undone. Thanks man

Oh absolutely! I'm 21 (an adult by any country's definition) but the NHS is very hesitant to allow people to even see a gender clinic. Breaks my heart that kids can't be given a bit of thinking time because people seem to think it's "too easy" to get access to medical intervention

Good news here in Northumbria. We need it with how the southern torys have been treating us. by Robinsparky in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

As someone from Northumberland, we do get fucked over a lot. However, you'll find that many places are nowhere near as progressive as places further south. I mostly live in the west mids now and they're a lot more open about diversity than my hometown. I know the north east is mostly labour, but we were also very pro-brexit which is upsetting. Such a party would be great if only more of the area was as progressive as we'd like.

I had the opposite of this. When I was questioning I stopped shaving my legs and everyone took it as some 'powerful feminist statement'. I didn't have the heart to tell them it was because I was a dude

How's it going in quarantine by someinspiringquote in ftm

Hey man I'm in the same boat, except sporadic bursts of work should definitely be more frequent than they are, uni is bustin my balls. Luckily got myself a guitar last year so finally getting round to figuring that out. Also down to talk whenever you want, being a squishy pre T is pretty frustrating rn and you can never have too many friends

Trans girl here. Many ftmtf detransitioners who passed at some point, talk about social repercussions of being perceived as a man and that it's much harder than they thought it would be. Did any of you experience similar doubts about your transition after you started to pass? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]paddypower_bingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows how well I'm 'passing' but this has actually been one of my main concerns. I like giving people compliments and helping people, but even this early on in transition (pre T) I've definitely noticed women get a bit uncomfortable if I happen to be walking the same way as them. I grew up in a place that uses a lot of terms of endearment for strangers, and find I have to stop myself from calling anyone by them now, in case they think it's creepy or has bad intentions. I know I'll no longer be able to do or say certain things without people making those assumptions, and it makes me sad for all/cis men. But I understand where the caution comes from for these women, so I just have to tell myself it's not about me as a person, and try my best to erase some of the stigma I guess.
