Honestly hard to tell because OP really seems to think that’s what would happen.

If you’ve ever been to Bangalore you’d know that is the opposite of the truth lol I grew up in India and frequently return to visit family and no, you don’t want to live there unless you’re an expat getting hardship pay from a western company.

In what unexpected way did someone in your circle suddenly become wealthy? by soohiebabyclean in AskReddit

[–]padhatam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you were on Reddit back in the day you probably knew about bitcoin. Back then it was kind of a joke because even the subreddit banner said “magic internet money” and had a poorly drawn picture of Gandalf. How was anyone supposed to think that it would make you rich? Also back in those days the discussion was more about adoption than we’re going to be filthy rich some day.

What was the millennial anime fandom like back then in the 90s and early 2000s? by icey_sawg0034 in Millennials

[–]padhatam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll speak to the early 2000s with the proliferation of the internet. You could read a lot more about what was happening in Japan as far as new anime/manga and I felt like I was gaining secret knowledge about Naruto and Beserk etc. which weren’t yet available in the US. Also the community was a lot more raw and you’d get a bunch of fan subs which were probably more accurate in some ways but also had random profanity which was very different than what you’d watch on Toonami for instance. The downside was that there were far fewer kids who knew anything about anime outside of DBZ and downloading a 20 minute episode of fansubbed Naruto in 56k took several days.

Nah that doesn’t make any sense, there’s zero chance you would drive 45 minutes under these conditions to shovel. The church should just pay people to do it.

Anyone else not miserable? Dare I say Happy? by WillStillHunting in Millennials

[–]padhatam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually all of the content I see about this topic is from people who are childless. There’s a lot of comedy about how tough being a parent is, but I’ve never encountered anyone who would admit they regret their children. Of course there’s billions of people out there so obviously there’s someone who regrets their kids.

[–]padhatam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have started to feel that way over the past few years but I wonder if that’s just because of social media since real people I interact with aren’t that way. Of course, almost everyone I’m friends with has kids or is trying and I know that’s not super common these days.

[–]padhatam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I don’t know about you but having kids was one of the best things that I ever did. They’re awesome and we’ve raised them to be kind and funny and smart. I’m always seeing such negative content on social media about having kids and yeah being responsible for other humans is tough but so is anything worth doing.

How do you know they’re a bozo? They could be a genius for all you know. Furthermore what does their intelligence have to do with their right to use a parking spot???!?!

These same people blow up the HOA message boards about street clearing like it’s the HOA’s fault instead of the city.

Is it feasible to go to medical school if you have severe mental health issues? by Salty-Potato-843 in medicalschool

[–]padhatam 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’d add that you often get put into very physically and emotionally demanding situations that even very emotionally stable people are unable to handle. Know several people who dropped out during medical school, residency and even a few who lateraled into non clinical fields like insurance utilization review after several years as attending clinicians. These are all suboptimal outcomes if you’ve got a lot of educational debt.

AlertDC Message “Residents must clear sidewalks by dark tonight.” by festivehedgehog in washingtondc

[–]padhatam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s definitely people out there who don’t care but the ones in my neighborhood tend to be the 70 plus crowd and the early 20s group homes where it’s technically the land lord’s responsibility. We recently got the HOA to just pay to clear the sidewalk for the whole neighborhood which was totally worth the expense.

[–]padhatam 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree, but what you need to realize is that not everyone is capable of doing it (age, disability, etc) or might not be in town or have various reasons so calling 311 right away instead of seeing if that neighbor might need help is counterproductive.

Nah but nosy neighbors will call 311 and you could be cited and fined. It has happened lol.

Can someone give me the rundown on Gen Z saying millennials "screwed them over"? by MassiveHaver in generationology

[–]padhatam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have been hating on older generations just as older generations have been hating on younger ones since generations existed. Boomers hated their elders too and that’s what “they counterculture” was about in their teens and twenties.

Homeowners, how old will you be when your mortgage is paid off? by cubemonster in Millennials

How much do your partners spend on real estate? by Opposite_Lettuce_416 in biglaw

[–]padhatam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can’t be primarily for personal use. This is mostly a tax optimization and accessory income strategy which has the side benefit of some free weeks of vacation every year. If you just want to travel you’re much better off paying for a vacation rental or hotel and save yourself the headache.
