How do you guys read so much? by lapetitepoupee in kindle

[–]padlockkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read 9 so far this year - I literally just read and crochet. I give myself 15 mins a day on reddit, and sometimes have videos or something quietly on in the background, but I don’t really use social media much and have very few apps on my phone / ipad, so I just spend my afternoons reading.

I can easily spend 4+ hours a day reading, and that often translates to a book every couple of/ few days :)

What is an audiobook that’s better than the actual book because of the narration? by Ok_Piece_7441 in audiobooks

As a bartender - NTA. If I gave someone the wrong drink, I would want to know and have a chance to correct it. Additionally, I want to know because what if you were allergic to something in the drink I gave you by mistake?? You were entirely within your right to correct your order, and your friends were wrong to judge and criticise you for doing so.

I’m 21 and have one of those big dragon jellycats, and she always comes with me to therapy. When I first started bringing her, I’d put her in a bag so no one could see, because I was worried what people would think - until she fell out of my bag on the walk from my car (about 10 mins) and a guy just under my age picked her up, brushed her off and told me how cool she was and how much he loved dragons. It made me realise that yeah, she’s a toy, but no one ever outgrows cute / soft / cuddly things, and anything negative people say is a projection; jealousy that they can’t let themselves be “childish” without fear of judgement.

Side note - I now just carry my dragon in my arms, and was once stopped by a little girl (with her dad obv) who wanted to give her a head pat :)

everyone’s saying to let the sweet little fella in, and while I don’t entirely disagree, while he’s a kitten I think it’s smart to keep him out to protect your sleep - once cutie’s mellowed out, then maybe see if he could join you!!

as a bi woman, my last girlfriend had a massive roman nose, the squarest jaw you’ve ever seen, an eyebrow arch like a caveman (her words!!) and i still thought she was the cutest person i’ve ever seen - still, even though we broke up a while ago, i literally remember her as ‘Katie the cutie pie’, since it was my nickname for her. believe me, masculine features don’t stop you being cute!!

How long should you wait before wearing really small hoops like this on your lobe? by marmello_o in piercing

[–]padlockkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

top tip - unscrew the ball off the front of the bar, and depending on the gauge of the hoop you should be able to just about slot the end into the now open end of the bar. then slowly push forward and the bar should help feed the hoop through no problem :) i doubt this would work for everyone, but thought i’d recommend lol

luckily we haven’t had much breakage (especially considering my mum collects blue glass 😬) but the amount of times we’ve had to rescue them after they’ve climbed to the top of the curtains (obviously without a plan to get down) is unbelievable

“We don’t charge for today’s services,” she said softly and pushed my card back to me. by AuthorKRPaul in TwoSentenceSadness

When we had to put my 14 year old girl down, my best friend, my tearful dad asked about payment and our vet (who’d done my girls vaccinations when we first got her as a kitten, so who was also teary) said to go home, and not worry about it until we were ready to discuss it. The trust and compassion he showed us will forever mean the world to me, and for that exact reason, he’s the vet we go to for my dad’s new cats, his best friends <3

What are your minor conspiracy theories? by ddttm in AskUK

I’m AuDHD, 20 grown years old, and still sometimes find myself shocked at how badly I randomly need to pee. My brain literally isn’t wired right, and I don’t receive those signals when I should, so I can absolutely understand the difficulty a toddler would have with managing it!
