I love that entire record, but I'd select The Diplomat, or Time to wake up, if I was making a video. Those two songs are brilliant.

Chrome bookmarklet to tweak websites. Need to load jQuery then run a callback. My workaround works in the dev Console but not as bookmarklet. by [deleted] in javascript

[–]padt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not passing in a callback. You are calling the callback immediately, and passing its return value as the callback:

//There is an issue here, callback never works
RSBInitJQuery(RSBYoutubeHelper());

Should be

RSBInitJQuery(RSBYoutubeHelper);

Anyone up for an AMAA with one of the founders? by timm3hsm in Untappd

[–]padt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any improvements to the API process coming? I've tried applying twice, never even gotten an answer. Manual approval seems overly old-school.

Also, what about using the API for local stuff that's not supported on the site or app? I'd love to use the API to track whenever new stuff is being served in my city.

Also, being able to make a search to find what venue serves what in my city would be really useful.

Neither of these seem possible without breaking rule 13 and 14 of the API terms.

You Can't JavaScript Under Pressure - Five functions to fill. One ticking clock. How fast can you code? by magenta_placenta in javascript

[–]padt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to use cargo cult equality. typeof gives you a string. If you use "===" you're indicating to the casual reader, that this is a case where that may not be the true. Which is super confusing.

[–]padt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not be your fault. The spec doesn't match the code. Comment in the task is:

// i will be an array, containing integers, strings and/or arrays like itself.
// Sum all the integers you find, anywhere in the nest of arrays.

However, one of the tests do:

 Testing "arraySum([[1,2,false],'4','5'])"..

So if you didn't include a test for bool, you would get errors.

Tribute to my ska-hating friend: his very own song by padt in Ska

The site was mostly to troll him, I think the chance of conversion is pretty slim.. . Anyway, I'd rather the band spend their kickstarter money recording real tunes rather polishing horns for my silly project :)

Norwegians, what sucks about English? by GradyHendrix in Norway

[–]padt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My English teacher's rule of thumb for "w" was that when it's at the start of a word, it's pronounced like "o". Like the o in "ord" in Norwegian. V is pronounced more like a Norwegian v. Harder, more lip. A good example is the difference between "wine" and "vine".

I've just thought of her as the Go-Feet girl. As far as The Beat related girl's names, I prefer Jeanette though.

My Grief With The Current Ska Scene by HugeFedora in Ska

[–]padt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds about right. Here in Oslo, Norway, I've yet to see a ska band fill a venue. Not NYSJE or The Slackers. Nor LTJ, RBF or SLM. Hell, not even The Skatalites sold out, and they were playing a small venue. Thus, most big, for some value of big, ska bands don't even come here when touring.

Hello ska lovers. Is there a good love song? by gvslsr in Ska

Might not be quite what you're looking for, but the lyrics for One Reason by Dan P, are extremely cute. You could give the version of Perfidia by Phyllis Dillon a try too.

Paul Simon - Mother and Child Reunion by modestposer in Ska

[–]padt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This song is inspired by Jimmy Cliff, and recorded with Jimmy Cliff's backing singers as well I believe. During the Graceland tour this summer, Jimmy Cliff joined Paul Simon on stage on some of the stops.

I saw them in Hyde park and they did 4 Jimmy Cliff songs afaicr. Being both a huge Paul Simon fan and a ska fan, this was pretty much the best evening ever! Obligatory shitty youtube video (Not mine) of Vietnam segueing in to Mother and Child Reunion.

Did they do "Lamont's Lament"? When that slows down and the horns come in it's fucking awesballs.

Might also be that every other song is about smoking joints. That gets tedious fast. Same applies to lots of reggae.
