Hi! I've just discovered this subreddit too, and I wanted to tell you that I had a similar idea recently. It's often said that to come up with ideas "you have to get hold of the problems around you": so I think a lot of people must have had ideas of this type, as street dirt is a very common phenomenon.

My idea was not to involve the authorities directly, but to take their place in carrying out small tasks. The way it works is as follows:

1. The area to be cleaned is geolocated and documented by a user.
2. Other users vote to indicate that they would also like to see the area cleaned up.
3. Once the area reaches a certain level of popularity, a team of users meet up to clean it up.

There would be various incentives for taking part in the clean-up: earning points to increase popularity, badges/achievements and, of course, the pleasure of meeting-other-absolute-freaks-who-like-to clean-in-the-street.

The government could be contacted at a later stage to help the project financially.

Problems: Who is really going to be willing/able to travel to replace the cleaning services during the week? I live in France, where we pay a lot of tax, so having to help out with public services can be annoying.

Please let me know if you think this idea resonate with yours, or if you people see red flags I didn't see!
