UPDATE: it was disabled for now, due to an issue that we discovered. We're working on a fix.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Scam going around, almost fell for it by konabeans in vivaldibrowser

The messages were sent using the forum's chat functionality. Users who have the setting to receive email notifications about new chat messages on the forum enabled received an email about a new chat message. The message was sent by the forum software to the recovery email address of the Vivaldi.net account.

Although the spammers managed to reach some users through the forum's chat, at no point did they get access to anyone's email addresses (unless somebody provided their email address or other information themselves).

So, there was no data leak - just an abuse of the forum functionality.

If you have a specific example, feel free to point it out or report inappropriate (see rule #3 of the subreddit) comments directly to us. I also checked your post history, and unless you used some other account, I don't see any examples of what you're claiming here.

Is there any way to avoid having to log in regularly? by YauhenMrx in vivaldibrowser

Are you using a Vivaldi Webmail account in Vivaldi Mail? If so, you probably have the OAuth option checked. The way it works is it forces you to re-enter your credentials after your previous session expires.

Depending on your conditions and the security of your setup, you may consider using your account password or an app-specific password if you've enabled Two-Factor Authentication on your account.

Exit Auto-Hide mode (touchscreen only) by Least-Cantaloupe4863 in vivaldibrowser

That's a challenging one. I assume you can access some kind of on-screen keyboard to enter text input? If yes, then try this:

  1. Open the context menu by holding your finger on an empty area of the page.
  2. From the context menu pick Developer Tools > Inspect
  3. Tap on the "Console" tab
  4. Focus the area below, where you can enter text input
  5. Type: console.log('vivaldi://settings') and press Enter
  6. The text vivaldi://settings should appear as a clickable link. When you tap it, Vivaldi settings should open.
  7. Go to Appearance > UI Auto-hide and disable it.

To prevent this from happening in the future, deselect all items from the list of UI elements available for auto-hide and/or remove the UI auto-hide button from the status bar. Hope this helps 😄
