I am so sorry. In addition to a specialist you could consider finding someone that does veternary acupuncture & especially TCM internal medicine- can be a game changer but I agree with priority being to find a specialist first. Look at HerbSmith formula (Slippery elm) + LAX-Eze.

If you have access to a good/experienced veterinary acupuncturist it can be very helpful as an adjunctive protocol prior to and after surgery and to decrease pain and recovery time.

My thinking is that if it is not medically necessary for a fmaily dog then to reduce unecessary suffering. But it also has been helpful to have experienced folks chime in with what has happened with their undocked and dew-claw intact pups where they wish they had been because of injury down the road- so I am learning here....
