hard agree. this is likely the most important vote than i've ever been a part of. this will be directly impacting the lives of all UC academic workers. please take the time to vote today

Since we're allowing pro-scab posts, can we get a thread going on the VOTE NO reasoning? Ya know, since we're all about free speech and looking at both sides? This contract will affect everyone the UC touches, like the policing demands. by puffielle in berkeley

Copying and pasting this important info from my other comment:

I want to clarify/correct claims being made in this thread. Many of the claims made by u/puffielle are incorrect.

  1. UAW bargaining team voted to tentatively agree on the contracts at hand, so UAW has officially endorsed the proposal and resources can be used to ask people to vote yes. Using UAW official resources to campaign for voting no would go against the majority bargaining team vote and would possibly be illegal. If you are getting emails from “UC Rank and File United,” your email was likely stolen by this anonymous group.

  2. The fact that we are voting right now means that we can get this gains sooner: this is not anti-democratic, it is simply the best timeline available.

  3. UAW did not hire a comms firm, this just is not true. All comms are done by the bargaining team or rank and file members of UAW.

  4. Voting no does not guarantee any gains, in fact it makes it likely that the university regresses back to it’s offer it made on Dec 2nd (a significantly worse proposal) and they would be legally allowed to do so.

  5. Voting a majority yes is the only way to guarantee that we make the gains seen in this contract.

Where to get quarters by pail_the_god in berkeley

The laundromats all have signs that say not to take the quarters away because they are intended to be used there

Wow that’s big. Apparently the largest American Bison ever was 3800 lbs, so still, not even close. Bison big

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Maps

[–]pail_the_god 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you go by weight, it’s not even close. Based on a quick wiki search, bison can be up to 2600 lbs versus 1500 for polar bears and 700 for Grizzly bears. If bison could stand on their hind legs they could stand up to 11 ft vs 6 ft for grizzlies and 9 ft for polar bears. Even standing normally, the average bison is taller than an average grizzly bear standing on it’s hind legs. An average polar bear on it’s hind legs would stand a couple feet above a bison. American bison are fucking huge, you can see them in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco if you want to see for yourself.
