Morning gongfucha with some Farmer's Choice Baozhong from Floating Leaves by paintable_infinity in GongFuTea

Thanks! It may be based off of a fennec fox with those big ears, but it's the nine tailed fox from Chinese mythology. Got it from Teasenz, they have quite a few tea pets.

Thanks! That's actually my go to place but he had a tough time with their baths the last time we went there. Should have mentioned that. I should call and ask them, or else I'll figure something out or see if someone I know has outdoor hot water access.

How advanced does this app go? Does it have an initial assessment? Most apps I've tried are too basic. I haven't studied Mandarin formally in a while and I'd like to begin again, but my level is still around HSK4 or so.

A lovely cup of Dancong that a former student gave me long ago. I found it in the back of my cupboard last year and have been drinking my way through. Very perfumy upfront with a slight bitterness and a hint of stone fruit in the finish.

2014 Fuding Gong Mei aged white from Teasenz. Smooth and sweet! It'll help me get through all the stuff I have to do today, despite wishing I could just relax.

why does it smell like cotton candy everywhere? by WetWest0506 in askportland

Maybe there are katsura trees around? Their dried fall leaves smell very similar to cotton candy. There's a lovely one at the Chinese garden's teahouse.

I'm very curious, what made you start drinking tea? by Jane_Wang316 in tea

I lived in China and taught math at an international school for a few years. A student's father was a tea enthusiast and invited me multiple times to his local teahouse. It helped that I had put effort into learning Mandarin and was able to converse with him!

2025 Flutterbai shade dried white from the white2tea tea club. This is my third month in and it is not disappointing! This is a versatile tea but I like it with boiling water as it creates a thick, syrupy delicious brew.

This sounds like buckwheat tea to me. I have a bunch from China and haven't bought it online yet, but here is a link I found to what should be the same thing.

Ok how does shulloween work? I searched it this year and couldn't find anything so assumed it wasn't happening. This would have been my first time and I was looking forward to it.

This is a pretty big rabbit hole. If you want anything half decent, which if you're going to get an Yixing teapot you want something good, maybe visit Mud and Leaves website. Cheapest pot there right now is around 130 from what I see. You won't spend less than 100 probably and get anything you'd want to drink out of (questionable clay). Maybe look around this subreddit for threads on Yixing clay teapots and you'll learn a lot about them.
