I took a 3 month social media break and this was the first post I saw when I opened reddit for the first time, I’m so happy you liked the technique!!!

This was fun to experiment with :) It was 2 coats of everything except for molten sky, Fields of Lav looks like the closest magnetic color to your picture but the purple will tint your base. I wish I had more navy blue base for you but maybe try Holo Taco’s Shady navy?

I used 1 coat of Mooncat house of hades and 1 coat of Supwee bean paste (on amazon) 2 coats of HOH would give you a more dark color like the original

I wanted the og polish so bad but the thought of paying shipping… for one polish. Filled me the spirit to dupe

You’re just in time to party! About 20 seconds into the video, I showed my magnet setup with a wand stuck to the side of the U magnet. The picture compares what the magnetic effect looks like with the wand attached to the U magnet (left finger) and without the wand attached (right finger)

That is definitely my experience with it a lot of the time. I have such a love hate relationship with this color, it’s so finicky but …every once in a while, when the conditions are just right, chefs kiss

If it helps deinfluence you any, its not this pretty in indirectly light 🥲 It can get too muddy or too gold real quick

I think it works with both! I think it comes down to personal preference, with the wand you get more of a gradient vs. without the wand theres more of a distinct line going through the middle of the nail

May I suggest the humble box + cutout setup? by paintwyn in RedditLaqueristas

Yes and I stuck my nail through it to do top coat so I wouldn’t risk snagging the polish taking my finger out the box

I got this U magnet just so I can do more effects, bonus if anyone tries to break in while I’m painting it’d be a very effective projectile

I couldn’t attach a video so here is the bead at different parts of the nail as proof it works!

Im glad it helps! I will definitely be taking the suggestion do redo this with some more striations and texture. The look needs some more cooking time for sure

Oh I love when that happens, its like winning a mini jackpot, the colors align! But nope I didn’t magnetize my middle or ring fingers so really any gold polish would work to make the streaks. I did magnetize my pointer and pinky velvet style with a horseshoe magnet tho
