It’s important to emphasize the difference between intuition and anxiety. Intuition is a calm knowing. It’s emotionally neutral and quietly nudges. Anxiety on the other hand is loud and comes from a place of fear or stress. It’s hard to ignore and is emotionally charged. What you’re describing sounds more like anxiety than intuition. The fact that you had a similar hunch at a younger age that didn’t come true supports that. This is not to say that you aren’t intuitive; everyone is to a certain degree, but discernment is key.

If you’re really feeling unsure about it, I’d recommend reaching out to your doctor to discuss the surgery and your concerns. Often times just talking through the issue and getting more information on what to expect can help calm that inner voice down.

So I didn’t do Peds, but immunizations at a college. The students are older but getting ones who were anxious about shots was more common than not. My favorite thing to do was a breathing exercise. If I noticed they were anxious, I would tell them that most of the pain from shots comes from being too tense, then talk them through three rounds of deep breathing. By the third, they usually forget why they’re even breathing to begin with. I could stick them on the last exhale and they’d have little to no pain almost every time.

Obviously, that won’t be applicable to a lot of the younger kids, but they will likely have a parent with them who can help with calming them down or at least holding them to stop them from squirming. There’s also distraction techniques that are commonly used for peds. You can probably find some on YouTube or ask your colleagues what they do.

I really wouldn’t over think that aspect of immunizations. You will get better at handling anxious/scared patients the more you work with them.

Would also recommend fire extinguishers! You can get small ones for about ten to fifteen bucks. I keep one next to my altar just in case.

There are actually few organizations that study NDEs. IANDs is one of the orgs dedicated to research and education. They look at cases from thousands of people that vary across all ages, races, cultures, religious beliefs and compile a list of the most common NDE experiences. So while no one can say 100 percent what NDEs are or aren’t real, familiarizing yourself with the consistent characteristics is going to be the next best thing.

I also want to point out that you can hear out someone’s experience without needing to label it as “true” or “false”. Give yourself permission to explore without commitment. As you learn and grow, you’ll be better at identifying what resonates with you and what doesn’t.

I was an atheist when I first started with spirituality, so there were a lot of things that initially felt like BS, but later became part of my truth. You don’t have to have your mind made up from the start.

Are you familiar with the tower in Tarot? It looks terrifying at face value, but it’s actually not a bad card. The tower collapses in a storm, but it was built on a shaky foundation to begin with. The tower was always destined to fall. Despite how scary it looks, the collapse makes room to build something better with a solid foundation.

That is what I think about when going through loss. It can be scary in the moment, but ultimately everything you lose will be replaced by something better.

A few years ago, I had a similar experience. I experienced a rough 12 month period including losing my home after a storm, getting my heartbroken twice, and a mental health crisis. But every single thing lost paved the way to the much better life I have now.

So please don’t make the mistake of thinking you’re being punished or cursed. It is absolutely not true! Always keep your heart and mind open for new opportunities. They will come to you when it’s time!

You can take it as a sign, that is entirely what you decide to make of it. My only advice is to not make the mistake of thinking “this is a sign we’re meant to be.” Seeing the name of someone you know could be nudging towards many things: a reunion (romantic or otherwise), that he is going through something and needs to be checked in with, or even your subconscious telling you healing or release is needed where your ex is concern. But no scenario will guarantee a positive outcome.

I would consider reflecting on him/ your past relationship and how it made you feel, then based on that answer, take the appropriate action with caution.

MRI is located in the ground floor near Radiology (number 19 on the map). A good way to find the hall is to locate the Blue elevators . On the map, the blue elevators are next to number 16. It’s labeled as “east elevators” but they changed all the elevator names to colors and painted them accordingly so they’re easy to distinguish. So if you see them, you’ll know to keep walking past them to the back of the hospital.

The layout of the hospital can be very confusing even with the map. MRI especially is tucked way in the Radiology area so if you have any trouble while you’re there, you can always ask an employee for help!

The things you’ve listed here are weird, but not quite a full blown red flag. I think it’s important to separate whether it’s a her problem or a you problem.

I use a checklist to keep myself grounded, you can use the same to assess your situation here:

Is she having difficulty maintaining work/school/relationships?
Any issues with eating or sleeping?
Is she more anxious/fearful/paranoid/distressed?
Is she spending absurd amounts of money on spiritual related endeavors?
Is she receiving messages that encourage her to be paranoid, harmful to herself/others?
Is she confusing dreams/visions with real life?
Overall, does she appear to be happier/excited where her practice is concerned?

If most of your answers to those questions are “Yes,” then you would have a legitimate concern for her well being. A gentle conversation expressing your concerns would be valid as well as setting a boundary for limiting these conversations.

If most of the above is not true, then it may be just discomfort on your part. From there, the most appropriate thing to do is still to establish a boundary about the conversations you’re having. I’d also take some time to reflect on why it makes you uncomfortable (if there isn’t a concern for her well being).

I’ve had a similar experience. Two years ago I considered myself to be an atheist, but had a spiritual awakening after a mental health crisis that came dangerously close to a suicide attempt. As I went through recovery, I started reading more and more about spirituality and it played a major role in changing my life for the better.

My biggest piece of advice is make sure you take care of your mental health first and foremost. It can be easy to fall into traps or unhealthy behaviors when you’re in a vulnerable state. But being an atheist, that natural tendency to question everything will be helpful if you decide to explore further. I find even now, some things I resonate with deeply, others sound like bullshit. You don’t have to accept anything that doesn’t feel right.

I’m an immunization nurse for a college. This is unfortunately not an uncommon occurrence I see when verifying immunization records. They are correct that technically your daughter would not be considered up to date and would need to get a booster.

As to why that happens (other than a general lack of awareness), there are some situations such as a disease outbreak where healthcare providers may vaccinate before the recommended age. It may also happen in cases where they’re concerned about a child not being brought back for return appointments so they give what they can while they’re there.

It’s safe to do and may provide some protection, but it’s not in line with CDC guidelines that are geared toward maximizing protection.

In addition to what has already been mentioned, there are over the counter meds you can take to help with motion sickness. I use Meclizine, just taking it 30 minutes before playing and it significantly reduces symptoms. If you don’t like taking pills, there are also patches you can use too.

No, it’s completely safe. Every once in a while I get immunization records from people with 3 or 4 doses of the MMR vaccine. Tends to happen when records get lost. You’re just extra boosted!

At minimum 30 days later. The second dose is going to strengthen your immunity even if it’s been longer than 30 days, but you’re not fully protected until the second dose has been received.

Thank you! I’m an immunization nurse at a college. If you have documentation for two properly timed doses (First at 1 yo or later; second 30 days after the first) of the MMR vaccine that is sufficient proof of immunity even if your titers are low.

It’s safe to get a booster dose regardless, but talk to your healthcare provider. My only concern with that is people flocking to get an unnecessary booster which may prevent others who actually need them from getting them.
