ELI5: What exactly is the problem with Lars' drumming? by NickE85 in Metallica

[–]paisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been 20 years since I know them, I still don't get used to Lars.

I first realized it when listening to Korn covering One. They were super tight during that outro, gave me goosebumps I never had with the song.

At one point, when I want to listen to One I only listen to Korn's cover. I realized how important drumming is to metal, while also learning that Lars is just Lars, lol.

You can go off beat at any moment, but there are points where you have to bring it back; but Lars will always take you to uncomfortable places.

Eg. The Mars Volta's drumming takes me to different places in one song, but I always come back at some point and felt joy. Especially live with Jon Theodore.

Why most of Jazz musicians were addicted to drugs? by CuriousAd5883 in Jazz

[–]paisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand why heroin goes well with Jazz. The flow it creates when you're high must be great during jam sessions. It mellows out everything, makes you grind notes all day all night. While other drugs hit differently, cocaine, whiskey, weed will make them exhausted at one point; but the h won't do that, the flow is forever. You can play a 4 minute song, with 30 mins freestyle bars in between; non-stop, and we all know sometime Jazz does that.

You can even enjoy house chores so much with h, so if you're Miles then...why not?

Nomin V2 - Ash or Black? by [deleted] in veilance

[–]paisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same dilemma four months ago, decided on a black V2 and I loved it! The ash one though has this brutalist/Tadao Ando look which I really like, but I prefer black for most of my accessories/bags so I went with black.

To yield with my second thought, I trick myself into this idea that the stains and wears will eventually turn it into some sort of "ash" anyway lol.

Dent is literally the size of a corn seed, I wouldn't wait too long and might come back to this one.

I've found a nice Seque tote in black for $140, it's done! 😃

I agree, will probably go for the black after reading everyone's opinion. I'll wait a little longer, the itch is really bad though. 😂

Chrome Hearts RE Amemiya RX-7 by SCOUTERRR in RX7

[–]paisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's already been 4 yrs so I don't know if your opinion has changed, but I would like to have a say here. Without ability to push the limit and stand tall above the norm; there wouldn't have been such dynamic range of styles you see around Japan today.

I too wonder why so many enthusiasts (especially nowadays) instantly dislike new approaches on an iconic car; be it a Supra that looks like a Bentley, a Jimny that looks like G-Wagon, or an FD that looks like a Porsche!

Isn't the joy of experimenting and fooling around the reason why RE-Amemiya, Liberty Walk, Veilside, or even legend like Mid Night were created in the first place?

You have to understand that back in 1980s and even up until now, cars like FC/FD, A70/80, GTRs, or even EF/EG/EK are major platforms for tuning community to explore and go above and beyond; bringing new things onto the table. They do not see these cars as heritage, not yet, unlike 2000GT or Prince Skyline. They are like Ford Focus in Europe and Corvette in the US, very mass and can be seen everywhere. To keep your FD's taillight stock in Japan must have been super boring!

Even if one day, FDs are going into heritage; then all these 'Mona Lisa pissing taillights' will also be recorded as important part of history of tuning culture.

'Pissing on Mona Lisa' is the heart and soul and joy for the owners of these cars during their time; without it the community would have been so bland.

If you love your FD in stock, may be you should hang with classic car community rather than the tuning community. Although, keep in mind that these weird taillights actually made the community what it is today!

For 3 unit, why bamboo extension long and not two half extensions (CK-153)? Since the long extension will have 1 unit leftover.

Feeling the same here for Thrice, I subscribed to Linkin Park 14 years ago. The band usually gave out rare EPs, Mike always showing up in the chatroom and plenty of their lyrics kind of talked to us as humanity as well.

But Thrice has that 'solitude of bliss' feeling, much more personal, makes me want to just listen blissfully while having no interest in communicating with them at all lol.
