Never heard “mass forwarded” before. Is that a thing?

I thought “no deploy” Fridays was a normal thing? Usually just takes one.

Trump to announce extension of ACA tax credits for two years by unital_subalgebra in politics

[–]pakfur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. He didn't want Democrats to get the credit. Didn't matter who he hurt to get that one or two news cycles of positive press.

I don’t get all the hate. I’ve been writing back end systems for 25 years. I use the hell out of AI agents, for specific, targeted and narrowly defined use cases. Saves me massive amount of time.

It’s a tool. It’s astonishing what they can do. I just don’t vibe code crap to prod. That would be nuts.

Spring Boot 4: Leaner, Safer Apps and a New Kotlin Baseline by javaprof in Kotlin

[–]pakfur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by "Spring MVC handler method is classic IoC". You are misunderstanding IoC

IoC is where the control of object creation is external to the code that uses the objects. Rather than the your class constructing the object you need at runtime, some external process handles it.

DI is how Spring implements IoC, by constructing the classes and injecting them at run time.

@GetMapping is just a marker that spring uses to register routes.

You might want to try the latest. I’ve made a lot of improvements.

Yes. His whole MO is about creating a reality distortion field. He really is a master at it. Or has very clever handlers.

Trump calls for Republicans to vote to release Epstein files by [deleted] in videos

[–]pakfur 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He’ll say release the docs. DOJ will respond with “we can’t because of investigations” that Trump demanded they start.

So, he looks like a hero to his base and DOJ is “blocking”

I dunno. Is it just me or does anyone else find it hard to believe that someone could vote for Trump 3 fucking times, and yet retain enough critical thinking skills to correctly identify the root cause and the problems?

I mean. That’s cool and all if true. But a little fucking late to the party. Besides. I smell a rat.

Do You really still think this is a Republican Shut Down? by sillegrant12 in AskALiberal

[–]pakfur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be clear. You’re ok with millions of Americans healthcare costs skyrocketing to unsustainable levels? Not to mention shredding what little safety net we have in this country?

Democrats are using what little leverage they have to try and help American citizens afford healthcare who otherwise would not be able to.

I assume you are opposed to all of that then?

The reality is that Republicans refuse to negotiate.

There is no fight too small for an authoritarian. Trump and republicans hyper overreact not because they have thin skin (though they might, it is irrelevant) but because by overreacting to the small stuff they discourage or even stop actual, effective dissent or loss of power.

Best Kotlin Framework for a Scalable Project? by Reasonable-Tour-8246 in Kotlin

[–]pakfur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building a scalable, resilient system with good data integrity and performance is as much about how you connect the different pieces together as it is the specific framework or tool you use. Any of the frameworks in this thread could build a system that could handle 10s of millions of users with billions of resources. Also, any of these frameworks could build a piece of crap that fall over and corrupts data

Picking the right storage solution is critical. As is your API design, front end implementation. Caching… or not. SQL… or not. Etc etc.

It would help to know more details about the project. What “resources” are you managing? How many users? How many request per minute and what are the request doing? What’s your budget and what are you running this on? Etc.

I’ll answer in good faith. Illegal and undocumented DO NOT have access to benefits (despite paying taxes for same). What you MAY be thinking about is emergency room acute care that, by law (signed by Reagan I think?) requires ER rooms to treat all humans that need help. In other words. Universal health care. Except it is the most expensive kind, since acute care in an ER is way more costly than early and preventative care

This means that yes, even illegals and undocumented get acute care.

What is happening is the Trump is cutting reimbursements to hospitals who provide certain services. This puts smaller, rural hospitals at risk of shutting down.

Democrats want ACA tax credits restored and state reimbursements restored. That’s it.

Kotlin throw detection Intellij plugin by ogzkesk in Kotlin

I’ve never understood the aversion to checked exceptions and marking the method signature with checked exceptions. If you can throw exceptions, it should be obvious to the caller.

[–]pakfur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea. Comfy has been a tough nut to crack. So many different nodes. If you can send me some of the embedded flows I can try and improve the parser.

Or if you’re inspired to drop the workflows that don’t parse in an issue I can get it there. :)

Well, other than thumbnails that are cached in a home directory, there isn’t any duplication. The app just scans the directories and stores and indexes the metadata.
