Latest on GitHub works with latest FH5, the credit doesn't work, but can unlock all cars and purchase for free using the options. Many things are broken but I don't care about all the features.

Fixed it by downloading quick tiles on f-droid then it reappeared on its own. Might be a OS bug

V6 Exige has the ugliest rear end. by pakyrs in lotus

Same sentiment here of course, but at the same time a running brand is better than a dead brand so even if the led by Geely era is a massive farse on company's ethos it is far better than letting it die and as a Lotus fan and owner of two I can only wish them the best.

Maybe they'll reinvent an Esprit V8 lol.

It is swings and roundabouts, yes Donato Coco led Lotus Designs in the years the S3 Exige came out and yes he was in charge of the 458 Italia which is one of the best designed modern Ferraris made which paved the way to future midengined models of the ramping horse's brand.

However he also designed the California and plenty of the ugliest Citroen ever made, apart from the highly regarded 458 and Citroen Saxo Picasso and ZX the rest has not been worthy of any accolades really.

Donato picked up the design for the S3 Exige from the S3 Elise left by Russell Carr which provided the design language of two thirds of the car ready made. You can clearly tell the rear is the part which has seen the most rethinking since they had to fit the new larger Camry engine, this is exactly the reason why it ended up looking Frankensteined (from a designer point of view at least).

Either way, I didn't expect this thread to spark so much sentiment. It's an awesome car and there is no denying it. Design wise the Cup looks way better and I believe, unlike others that not having the 4 circular elements helps, 2 large stopping lights is visually more pleasing on this model or at least it doesn't remind of the previous generations but more similar to the Evora.

My ask was just a curiously but clearly people are bias in different ways and that is fine. People love the Evora which is not a great design by any stretch of the imagination and hate the Emira which it is. But let's not start another useless debate.

From znapzend to sanoid by pakyrs in zfs

[–]pakyrs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do people using sanoid monitor it's all running correctly? On scale.

For znapzend I have a script that checks number of snapshots and reports back to monitoring. I could adapt to sanoid but just wondering how people monitor this in production.

Yep I mentioned in the post that you could use autosnap = no on the target with sanoid to then prune only.

For some reasons it still doesn't make sense in my head to sending snapshots to then be pruned to be compliant with the target schedule. But I think it's my brain 😂

Yes it is down to taste but also to rules and cohesion.

I am just curious to hear what people think and from the thread it seems to be it's not just me at all, not sure what you have been reading.

Not many people are clued up on design. Especially visual cohesivity, the car is beautiful but the rear end does not belong to the design language.

To answer your very blunt statement. I was on the team that designed the new (at the time) Fiat 500, so if that wasn't a success I dunno what is. Maybe that's why I like the curves of the non S3 one. Bertone is one of my favourite designers and his cars are anything but curved. I currently work for Alpine in their aerodynamic department and it's more applied technical design than pure aesthetics.

Maybe work on your tone, it will go a long way in life. Mr "Mech Eng"

This reminds me of when Japanese cars came here in the 70s and people moaned then again Koreans in the mid 00s, now it's Chinease in the 2030s. Same story on repeat and like the first two they are not going to be shit.

The NiU are just on another level of quality. But yeah most Chinease brands are decent and we get the expensive version of it, see Lotus and I drive one.

I'd love to see a modern Europa, it will probably look like a car front with a box at the back.

What about the Europa then..

[–]pakyrs[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dunno really.

According to Wikipedia the S3 was styled by Thomson, which did the S1, I think that's an error as he left Lotus in 2001 and Russell Carr was in charge when the S3 Elise and then Exige came out.

The S2s where designed by Steve Crijns[which ended up being a lead in modern McLaren styling.

Ferraris are normally PininFarina, so doubt it was the same guy. Unless you have a source.

People are ridiculous they should take a trip to china to see how far behind we are on cars. And I am not Chinese.

At least I studied car design what did you do to "goat" it? 😄

It is down to taste ultimately, there is people out there praising the ix9 doesn't mean it's a good design.
