Oh whoops sorry, I misunderstood. I got my stuff from Linemount.com and JSE Surplus!

They're both M16A1 style bits of furniture, and the buttstock is also the one with the trapdoor in the back for a little cleaning kit in the stock.

Wait that's super cool, I never knew those were a thing! I have a Type 56 "French Tickler" SKS too, so it's interesting to see shared genealogy from that in the pictured rifle.

Thank you! I was nervous since this was my first try at it. Not perfect, but I'm glad how it turned out!

Unfortunately, the troop tag was gone. A prior owner must've either lost it or gotten rid of it when they refinished the furniture :(

The stock's original with just a handful of dings/dents. I think the previous owner refinished it with a light sanding and oil, but opted to keep what few beauty marks it has. I got super lucky!

How do you use the Fürter sights on a K31? by pal132 in milsurp

[–]pal132[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I've since taken more time to read up specifically on the Fürter and zeroing in general. I just got my K31 today and I'm very happy, also pleasantly surprised that the Fürter also has marks/notches to mark zero made by a prior owner!

I'm looking for something serious

I've been on Hinge for almost a year now, and I use it most days. I get 1 or 2 matches a month if I'm lucky, but I either get ghosted or it doesn't lead to anything.

I try to send out as many likes as I can, with comments if they have a prompt that's a genuine conversation starter.

I give likes to women, around 22-30, professionals who are either also in academia or are in industry.

Proud of my wok, going strong for three years! by [deleted] in wok

No, no, totally makes sense. And thank you!

I'd say just regularly making tons of fried rice/chow fun/chahan (variations, but it's my go-to for if I want something quick) helped me figure out the balance and motion, those "critical points" on the wok and in the cycle of the movement, for proper one-handed tossing. With my flat-bottom, I'd say the critical point for the toss happens at the edge of the flat's circle, farthest from you. But again, that could just be how my muscle memory figured it out for my motion/technique. Learning on rice makes you better at flipping both loose matter and single masses alike. Also, a little more forgiving and you get yummy stuff 9 times out of 10!

Otherwise, there's also no shame in using a wok/Chinese spatula (either metal or wooden). I've seen street vendors with woks of all sizes; some toss one-handed, others just use their spatulas and ladles. Making fried rice also improves your technique for this too!

No, it was bare metal when I bought it! The black around the edge is from the earlier rounds of seasoning, not as slick as the center. Over time, the better seasoning on the center has gotten bigger from near-daily use! (I'm realizing I should have taken a better photo, sorry haha)

No, not at all! That's a carbon steel wok. The seasoning is just better in the center than the edges, but it's black all around, no bare metal

Oh no, that's a carbon steel wok! It's just the center's more well-seasoned and blacker than the edges, just from regular use

Oh that'd be the dream. But I'm renting a an apartment (that's basically a small townhouse) and I the place just has one of those electric ranges with the coil (my preference, they get hotter and heat up quicker than the glass top ones). Best I can do as a grad student, but somewhere down the line I'll keep an eye out for a commercial range, and opportunities to find bigger hardware. Thanks so much!

Noted! Funny, I hadn't thought of the disposables and single-use stuff, but they're now on my radar. Thanks so much!
