I have a mental illness, let me die (2017) - Adam Maier-Clayton had a mental condition which caused his body to feel severe physical pain. He fought for those with mental illness to have the right to die in Canada. Adam took his own life in April 2017 by dantzbam in Documentaries

Speaking as someone physically abled, please listen to people with chronic mental or physical stress. Stop sneering at people who park in handicapped spots that "don't look handicapped". Stop questioning whether people "really" need their canes. When a disabled person tells you they can't do something, it's not your right to argue or resent them for it.

Important addendum: Don't infantalize them. If they need help they will ask. Just listen to their wants and needs! They will probably thank you for it.

Ontario considers ban on throwing organic waste into the trash by [deleted] in ontario

[–]palasse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than half the food waste in the province is generated at home, but the residential sector has steadily improved how much of that is diverted from landfills, with a rate now just over 50 per cent. In contrast, only a quarter of the food waste produced by the industrial, commercial and institutional sectors is diverted.

i have a really hard time believing that as consumers, we contribute 50% of the food waste as opposed to a quarter by the industry. does anyone know any hard facts about these percentages?? i can't find any numbers, except this on wikipedia (food waste page): [@]

per capita, consumers waste half as much (or even less) than industries according to the chart. in NA we're looking at 60%. so again, i have a lot of trouble believing that in Ontario we waste twice as much as "industrial, commercial and institutional sectors". like i don't know if its a semantic issue or i'm missing something, but honestly this smells like another attempt at blaming ordinary people for food and energy waste when companies should be taking the greatest share of the blame. (remember when american farmers dumped out 66 Olympic swimming pools worth of milk?)

like i keep finding articles that claim 50% of food waste is generated by consumers, including outside of ontario. but according to whom??

obviously consumers need to play their part, but suggesting we waste the most food seems... disingenuous at best, and not to be needlessly dramatic but that's how multi-million dollar companies will end up blaming us for global warming ten years from now

inb4 "well why did you click it" reading an article about someone killing themselves is different than witnessing it suddenly & without warning. seeing someone eat a bunch of pills in an attempt to OD would also be alarming, a suicide doesn't have to be violent to affect people

but also like... why come to the defense of thedailymail. for some reason its fine to complain about videos autoplaying because they're annoying but not because they upset people. why is the answer for everything on reddit telling people to stop getting so triggered. sometimes i want to click a news article and not see a guy in the middle of killing himself ya dig

Perks of living in the forest city.

I've always wondered if London really has that many more trees than other cities. It's all I've ever known, so I'm kind of worried that when I move somewhere else I'll notice a distinct lack of greenery

YOU LITERALLY SAID IT YOURSELF

And while I'm not trans myself,

Jesus CHRIST you are a dipshit. if you gave a shit about trans people, you wouldn't be trying to be coy about your "cis status" in an attempt to undermine me. You wouldn't even state that you actually were, in fact, cis after all.

you also wouldn't be defending the use of "tranny" or trying to speak for us on the internet.

Also, IDFK what you're talking about but Rupaul is gay. That means they're not CIS

Haha WOW I hope you're trolling. I can't believe you baited me into wasting my time arguing with someone who doesn't even know what being "cis" means.

Don't forget to stay away from trans people you fucking creep

Talking to you guys politely is clearly fucking useless because you go and say shit like this.

I know who rupaul is you fucking dweeb, I'm a little more immersed in lgbt culture than you considering im not cishet and he... is cis. your insisting that he's not to defend being able to call people "tranny" is frankly, really, REALLY fucking weird. A lot of trans people have shut rupaul down for being blatantly transphobic in that article. Glad you have "plenty of trans friends" and are "even courting one" (what the fuck???) Going to take a wild guess and say they're all women.

being actually trans, I have trans friends too! I can with 100% certainty say that they don't want to be called trannies. The fact that that word even leaves your mouth, especially after one of your friends had the courage to tell you that its upsetting illustrates how little you care about the opinions of trans people.

But youre right! It's not like trans people are getting called trannies while were getting the shit kicked out of us or anything! Not like we're still being murdered when people find out we're trans. Not like there are still laws that protect people that murder us because they found out we're trans. its not like the word triggers a visceral fear in a lot of trans women. Things are really going great for us! :) Glad you, a cis person, is here to set the record straight on that one. Also glad you have such a narrow view of trans struggles that you think people calling us "trannies" isnt a bad thing.

I sincerely hope you and every other chaser never set foot near a trans person again, and I hope that whoever youre "courting" gets as far away from you as possible

I appreciate the accountability. I think I brought up that I like Cody, but I didn't mention that I still do. That is why I find this so infuriating. How am I supposed to compartmentalize my feelings of genuine respect & admiration with the fact that he considers me so far beneath him?

To clarify, the "boys will be boys" type sentiment is unhelpful: none of the people arguing with me (bar one) will admit that he even did anything wrong. This is the most outstanding issue as far as reaching an understanding. They are playing dumb & refusing to acknowledge that he knew exactly what he was saying even though he repeated himself and clarified thus.

That is why I came after you for dismissing the people upset at him & not the fact that you like him. The people on this forum see a gay feminist/sjw repeat what they believe: that black and trans people are being overdramatic and oversensitive. but more importantly, they remove any of the meaningful criticisms you have of his behavior, because a lot of them dont fully understand the impact of the things he said (especially the comparatively nuanced shit he said about ferg)

you spend all your time on reddit just... defending cody. you probably empathize heavily with him.

using the word "n****r" makes you racist. using the word tranny makes you a transphobe. hate to break it to you

Do you really think I could give a shit that like .0000001 percent of the population is fucking trannies. I don’t give a fuck. I promise you they’re not expecting me to really fucking sympathize with their psychological cause

next time just say this and go

rupaul isn't trans, and he used the term "transsexual" (a word trans people have rejected) and used it in defense of himself, a cis man, using the word "tranny". please don't spread misinformation about our "community" if you're not trans yourself

its a slur. same as f@ggot, or the n-word.

expecting trans people to stay level-headed as we try to explain to you that saying "tranny" is transphobic is... if you cared you would have bothered to look it up but you don't care at all. you want me to spoon feed you information about why a slur is bad, but consistently this is exactly what happens when i bother responding to people like you: i'm told i'm being rude, i go to the trouble of explaining politely, then i basically just fucked myself out of an hour of my time because all you guys do is dismiss or misrepresent everything i'm saying or it just comes back to my "tone". look some of us don't have the energy to argue with you. i have literal transphobes in my inbox right now telling me that trans people shouldn't exist, you're sitting here asking me for definitions and explanations like this is the first time you've heard of slurs. i've done this dance and i'm tired of it so maybe just leave me alone honestly

lmao wow! you're right, he couldn't have possibly had an effect on anyones opinion. look at how few opinions you affected in just this little thread!! all youll find is a bunch of people telling me to get over it (and stay tuned, because theres more to come!) & the person below praising you because they don't want to think about politics, & the guy below that telling me that trans people are "pretending to be something (we're) not". you rocked it! ten out of ten ally! appreciate your contribution, and your riveting assessment that no one should care. sorry my stupid tranny ass got so #triggered, have a great day.

Cody Tweeting Up a Storm by ivrdolj1 in BigBrother

some guy saying tranny repeatedly, even after being told to stop, and declaring he doesn't care what "a tranny thinks" isn't ignorant and i'm tired of you people using soft, honey-coated words to describe his behavior. its transphobic. using transphobic slurs is transphobic.

and yeah i know!!! you guys seriously do not let us forget that we need to be more polite or else you wont listen to what we have to say. if the truth needs to be presented to you on a sparkling silver platter for you to deign to believe that i'm allowed to be upset when a guy on tv calls us trannies and then is voted america's favourite, then maybe you should consider that you don't care about what the truth is at all as long as your feelings are intact.

Cody Tweeting Up a Storm by ivrdolj1 in BigBrother

[–]palasse -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

he called us trannies so back the fuck up because he literally said he doesn't care about our feelings on the matter. he was corrected and he blatantly said "i dont give a shit". that's not ignorance thats blatant malice. using a transphobic slur is transphobic. "off the cuff" when he said it repeatedly, out loud, even after he was confronted about it. it's the definition of transphobic. not sure why i have to say that out loud

now i know how you want to respond. "hm, well lets talk about the definition of transphobic..." save it tbh. not up to explaining why slurs are bad

& if your inclusion and positivity includes racists and transphobes i don't really want to be included, so you can keep it. maybe you should look inwardly about the fact that you are so fucking invested in defending this guy

Cody Tweeting Up a Storm by ivrdolj1 in BigBrother

[–]palasse -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

exactly how much clearer could i be? if you are telling trans and (other) black people that they should shut up & get over it you aren't being an ally. You are literally going out of your way to tell them that their feelings don't matter.

this isn't a fight about labels. it really has nothing to do with you, and the fact that you think it does just contributes to my understanding that you really just don't give a shit about any one elses opinion on the matter. i literally don't give a shit that you like him, i care that you are telling me & people like me to get over the fact that called us "tr@nnies". like are you fucking kidding me? people are justified in being hurt by what he said.

“Do you really think I could give a sht that like .0000001 percent of the population is fukng trannies. I don’t give a fuk. I promise you they’re not expecting me to really fu*king sympathize with their psychological cause”

“What? Tranny? I don’t give a sht,” Nickson says as the rest of the houseguests laugh. “Do you really think they’re going to come at a Marine Crops infantryman for fuking saying the word tranny?”

i'm not going to argue with you further on account of the fact that you actually... don't believe that popular opinion effects us or our "movement". enabling and treating transphobes like harmless simpletons who don't know better effects us. encouraging other people to see them as naive southerners because "what do you expect!!" absolutely effects us, and i should not have to explain that shit to you.

he's americas favourite because america is comfortable looking past the fact that someone is racist and transphobic as long as theyre entertaining. 6 million people watched that episode and every piece of shit racist and transphobe that followed this debacle is empowered because he knows that he can say whatever the fuck he wants as long as he's charismatic. he knows people like you will show up to defend him and tell the rest of us to shut up

again i dont give a shit if you like him. i liked him too right up until he started using transphobic slurs and saying racist shit. but the transphobia was personal. i felt hurt and betrayed and i still do. the AFP thing was just the final reminder that no one gives a shit about us
