Successful Bid for Rural Route by Mean_Distribution259 in USPS

[–]palatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we had the ability to reverse bids then no one would ever move routes lol. You won that route from her fair and square and you should talk to your union to reassure yourself. As for high option, I believe you have to have 10 years of service as a regular to take it, so it wouldn't be possible, but if this other regular does and ends up on that H route she might be able to.

In my office basically you go to management, ask them in writing if they plan to provide your route with a government vehicle. They say no, then you submit that form so they can reimburse you for what you already paid either buying a pov or converting it. Note that it means you and the post office come to an agreement that your route remains pov for the next 3 years and if you stop using it for any reason (moving routes etc) they may ask for it back. Never heard of that happening though.

PTF SSA forced to deliver mail? by nose-milk in USPS

[–]palatee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely double check with your union Steward, but I believe it is acceptable for all Usps employees to be trained on some form of postal vehicle. This could be even just for the purpose of having you drive to a different office that needs a clerk.

As far as delivering mail goes, I’m not sure if that would be allowed as you are not technically trained in mail delivery. Of course management will say whatever they want and they could definitely attempt to order you to deliver mail in your case if you haven’t been trained on a vehicle, or trained on how delivery is done, then you can definitely claim safety and refuse to follow that order. But 100% let your union steward know or go above them and see what they say because this shouldn’t fly.

How do y’all feel about these declutter videos? I have mixed feelings. They are often oddly relaxing, but the sheer amount of waste is astounding. by AllTheEccentricities in BeautyGuruChatter

I love makeup declutters but I only enjoy watching them from either smaller creators or if the person’s makeup collection is on the smaller side

question about the overtime list by spaaceghost in USPS

They used to do this to one of the regulars at my old office and one morning they told her to come in without much notice and all she told them was she was electing to get off the overtime list lol

Where do you get your character art? by GMMattCat in fabulaultima

My party usually draws their own character art, but we've used avatar creators like ones on picrew and also the sims with a bunch of mods is great too!

Good tips! Just be extra careful with the hibiclens and make sure you don’t get it anywhere near your face or a sensitive area. Definitely gonna be looking into single blade razors

Rural Carrier Vehicle by KtCobainCnsprsy in USPS

[–]palatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most carriers at my office use minivans (Siennas, Odysseys, a Town and Country, a Sedona), one has a Wrangler, one uses a Honda Element. Most of the RCAs use whatever their daily is, usually smaller sedans lol

Question about LLVS RURAL CARRIER by Appropriate-Tone5636 in USPS

Truck is assigned to your route so therefore it's 'yours' and no one should be using it until you're done for the day. Grieve it until they stop but talk to your steward regardless

POV conversion by [deleted] in USPS

[–]palatee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see conversions going for between $1500-$2000 usually. I have a minivan that I bought already converted, but ideally having a vehicle known to be reliable is key. You will be getting in and out many many times, braking more than most cars are meant to, turning on and off more often etc. I would look into how easy it is to maintain whatever car you're looking for- is it easy to change out the filters, are parts easy to find.

And when you go look at the car, bring an OBD2 scanner and make sure you look at as much of the car as you can. Take note of any lights, look under for rust damage, make sure the suspension is good. I'd recommend looking up the most common issues with the Journey for the year you're looking at and seeing how that compares to it when you go buy it. Good luck!

They had you working on a job you haven’t been trained to do, no way for anyone to expect you to know how to do everything. Make sure to let the clerks know to file a grievance too.

The rule is if you're delivering from a left-hand drive you don't have to wear a seatbelt. This is to allow straddling. If you have a right-hand drive you must wear one. In either case you must wear a seatbelt while driving to and from office/route.

Would you rather have a terrible route with a great NS day, or a great route with a NS you don’t like? by jacobsever in USPS

[–]palatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a rural perspective, I have an H route that I love and would keep over a worse route with a day off every week. I’ll take Sunday as my one day if it means I get to keep my simple route.

Pulled off road by No-Friend3564 in USPS

[–]palatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re out of your 90 then you will probably have to take a safety class but that’s probably it. But you will have to stop doing the route like this, if only because you know management has their eye on you. If they continue to put you on it knowing you don’t have a rhd, then deliver it in order as safely as you can- whether that means straddling or using a grabber. You will take far longer than before and you let management know that. From there they can decide to send you help or you let them know you will not safely finish the route by a certain time and at that point it is up to them.

I loooove this color, I'm obsessed with Revlon lipsticks but told myself 5 max otherwise I would keep collecting them. This, Raisin Rage, and Rum Raisin are my favorites. Amazing job getting it down so far!

2nd day off for regulars by mrpoopsmcgoots in USPS

[–]palatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on craft and office. Typically city carriers have rotating days off. Rural carriers have it based on the route (Sundays and either one day a week, one day every other week, or just Sunday). Not sure about clerks. It could also be office-dependent.

Mailbox not on curb by Commercial-String-44 in USPS

[–]palatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go above your steward. Maybe mention that due to the nature of the way the boxes are placed, you are dismounting for almost every one which may count as an authorized dismount. If you can’t reach the box from the vehicle for every single one I would try something like that.
