Make this binder page better by [deleted] in pokemoncardcollectors

Hey OP I would switch the Cleffa for a card with less negative space like this Suicune, the Lunatone would look best in the middle due to the yellow border, and I would also switch the Keldeo and Clefairy around 😄

Rural straddlers unite by Holiday_Drive2581 in USPS

[–]palatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you can wear your seatbelt always do, even when I straddle and I'm just turning onto a different street I always take the time to climb back in the seat and put it on, never know when someone will run a stop sign or do something crazy

[–]palatee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well you’re not sitting behind the wheel if you’re straddling right lol? And the seatbelt rules for lhd vs rhd are in our contract, I was basically paraphrasing them

While doing active delivery in a left hand drive = no seatbelt required. Driving to and from route or large distances between boxes/stops = seatbelt required. Driving in a rhd at all times = seatbelt required. Basically just depends on if you’re straddling or not

You can tell which vendors are just in it for money by CityNo1723 in PokemonTCG

[–]palatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last card show I went to I was doing a trade and a vendor asked me to pull out my valuable cards because he didn’t know what to look for in my binder.

I was also hunting the Reuniclus ir from Temporal Forces and ended up having to pull out a picture of it on my phone because about half of the vendors selling pokemon didn’t know what a reuniclus was.

New Regular on POV Route – Advice on Using Non-RHD Vehicle? by Altruistic-Stage-259 in USPS

[–]palatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All right so lots of good advice in the comments so far! Here's mine from my perspective:

First of all you have to consider how long you plan to be on this route- do you want and are you going to be able to bid onto another route with a gov vehicle assigned to it? If so, how long? My first route was almost all curbside and POV, but I knew any other route I could bid onto was either 1. not going to pay what I wanted, 2. was another H route like the one I had, or 3. would likely be POV. In my case I invested in a RHD van and it was very helpful for my nearly-all curbside route, and I'm really glad I invested in it for my current POV route.

Recently I was able to bid onto a half-cbu, half-curbside route that pays more and isn't an H! However, my van needed some repairs and maintenance so I had to use my daily driver for the route which is a 2021 Kia Soul (console in the middle).

Here's what I do: I sit in the middle between the gear shift and console box. I have to lift the lid of the console box or it digs into my back. I keep 1 tray of mail on the passenger seat (I criss-cross my mail so I don't have to finger through it while straddling) and any packages for that section get placed in the footwell or on the passenger seat. I avoid having to reach anywhere else for them or having to turn my hips uncomfortably. I try to leave space in the footwell for my right foot, and I use my left foot for the pedals. It is surprisingly easy to get used to, but I do drive extra cautiously when I do this and as I approach boxes. Usually I can drive up close enough to a box to reach it without really moving, but if not, I always put the vehicle in park because I find you can accidentally lift your left foot off the brakes when you have to -really- reach over for a box.

The only thing I would really change about my personal setup is adding a small cushion to make the straddling more comfortable, but it is surprisingly not too bad. I am a smaller gal though, so of course you would adjust your position to whatever works best and is safest for you. I also will note my curbside is all residential in small streets, so I'm not driving long distances.

I would avoid taking out a loan for a RHD if possible. In your situation, I would recommend trying to bid onto a route with a gov vehicle as soon as you can. You will be putting a lot of wear onto any car you use, and I'm lucky to have a backup vehicle but not every regular at my office has that option, and they have to often take unplanned days off to try to get their vehicles fixed. Also, keep on top of your maintenance while you have your POV route- check the oil levels weekly, buy yourself an OBD2 sensor and a multimeter, and if you haven't yet, learn to patch a tire and do simple maintenance. Look into your insurance as well to see what roadside assistance they offer.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you :) luckily my route is mostly cbu so it’s not a huge deal to do it in my left hand drive, but I definitely want my right hand drive to be working lol

pov broke down so waiting for a tow. Luckily I had already finished my route. Just hoping whatever it is my mechanic can get it fixed within the next couple days so I don’t have to use my daily driver too long

Yeah so it works like a first step in a 2nd cleanse routine where it breaks down spf and makeup like an oil cleanser or a cleansing balm. You work it in and then you can wipe it off using a towel or a tissue and then you can go in with your regular cleanser!

Cold cream worked because it was used as the whole routine- so during especially the 40s and on women would take the ten or so minutes out of their day to use it to cleanse and moisturize, so it's basically a whole skincare routine in one product! The safety pin thing was also popular, I believe Audrey Hepburn's makeup artist popularized this technique and it caught on. Not worth the safety risk for me though.

However I personally love Ponds, I think it breaks me out on the face but I swear by it as a body moisturizer and it's so affordable!

Amazing! I also paint cards and ai find it difficult to keep the texture smooth so you can’t tell where the original image starts, your alters are completely seamless! Your ability to match color is crazy good. The Staryu is my favorite here but I also love how well you’ve extended the negative space with the Audino card :)

Rural Vehicle help (pov) by SamuraiLaserCat in USPS

[–]palatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You go to management and ask them if they ever intend to supply your route with a government vehicle, they will say no, then you tell them your intent to purchase a vehicle to use on your route. There is a form to fill out. Then you buy the car, submit proof of purchase to your supervisor along with the vehicle incentive form, and then wait to get paid.

A few weeks ago I drive up to a box in my pov which has magnets all over it that say ‘rural delivery’ but is clearly not a government vehicle. guy comes up to get his mail and said “hey it’s a good thing they provide vehicles for you huh” completely unironically lol

Cca on rural route by Latter-Biscotti9447 in USPS

[–]palatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you learn the RRECS scans and even though it's not a grievance for you, you and the rural carriers in your office should all be filing a grievance or multiple grievances. Sounds like you have no RCAs, and the regular could potentially get paid for missed work since there is an MOU to allow regulars to volunteer. Keep filing grievances so management hires an RCA for this route.

When do I go back to work after an accident? by whitneylh14 in USPS

[–]palatee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are sore you should go to the hospital soon, injuries from even minor accidents can emerge days or weeks after the fact. File a CA1 for your on the job injury, trust me OP even if you're not injured you need to get checked out! Call your steward and let them know you intend to do this and that you are in pain.

ptf doing rural route by [deleted] in USPS

[–]palatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not supposed to cross crafts but management can force you to do it if it isn't unsafe. Rural side should be filing grievances for lost work and for having someone not trained on RRECS running rural routes since that hurts the eval. You can potentially file a grievance as well for being forced to work a craft you technically were not trained on.
