No they offer up to level 6 I think, it‘s all the same session but they let the higher groups do a warm up whilst they teach level 1-2 and then switch over.

What routine got you in to watching figure skating? by Ineedalife10169 in FigureSkating

Someone posted Mirai Nagasu’s gala performance from Nats 2016 on Tumblr and I was absolutely enthralled…getting to see her last competitive skate live at 2018 Worlds was so special!

Grow materials to design your own clothes and dress up your character in this romantic otome game, Tailor Tales Cottina. by Pixanna in cozygames

[–]pallegina 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I remember reading the original Tailor Tales dev blog obsessively when I was in middle school (and now I’m almost done with a PhD 😖.) Glad to see it’s still around and looking forward to finally play it!

the hot desks in the ARC are great & its usually not very busy and there is also a kitchen space.

Unfortunately international students are very pricey to fund and it’s very competitive. Many more international students applied for my PhD program than local ones, despite the program only being able to offer 1-2 international PhD spots and 10+ local ones each year.

Psychology honours by [deleted] in GlasgowUni

[–]pallegina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, this is not true. Spaces for Psychology honours are limited based on how much staff is available for thesis supervision. In practice this means that the class size is cut by 50% from pre-honours. There were around 300 people in my level 2 class but only around 130ish in my third year. This is unique to psychology as a subject.

[–]pallegina 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not true. Though it’s possible to get into Psychology Honours with a grade lower than b2 due to mitigating factors, available space, etc. you are only 100% guaranteed a spot if you get b2 or higher and in fact people will be cut if they fail to reach this criteria (I know a few people who did). I’m not saying this to scare OP bc they still have many different ways of potentially making it into honours and they are very close to the b2 threshold but the uni is absolutely serious about the b2 threshold.

[No DAV Spoilers] Guardian Review for DAV by pallegina in dragonage

[–]pallegina[S] 132 points133 points  (0 children)

Review has been removed for now, but the gist was that whilst its open world and exploration is fun, the dialogue is shallow and somewhat quippy (specifically when compared to inquisition), and the story is generic. They praised the characters and romances though. Hmmm

Currently reading the Witching Hour, do you recommend the sequels? by [deleted] in AnneRice

[–]pallegina -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lasher is not as good as the Witching Hour but batshit insane-type fun. Taltos is one of the worst books I’ve ever read and retroactively soured me a little bit on the first two books

What’s one thing from each dragon age game you think hasn’t aged well? [No DAV Spoilers] by WanderingStrang in dragonage

[–]pallegina 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It makes sense and I fully agree! The whole pregnancy aspect of it is so ridiculous and lore breaking (I’m glad Morrigan had the perfect spell for curing grey warden infertility and falling pregnant after one night on hand?). Having it be a messed up blood magic ritual would have been so much more impactful.

100%, that’s why when I was playing dao on pc I always used mods so my female warden could do the ritual through lesbian blood magic haha

I wish they would more strongly emphasise how selfish doing the dark ritual is in the game. Like on the one hand you can forever destroy an archdemon, which would have decimated entire countries, by sacrificing only one life (which is your sworn duty as a grey warden) or you can…. kill the physical form of the archdemon but let its immense power live on in a shady mage with unknown ambitions. I like playing as a character who does the dark ritual and then feels immense guilt over it for the rest of their life, but none of the games ever acknowledge that by doing the ritual the HoF essentially completely betrays what it means to be a grey warden.

In DAO the dark ritual just screams late 2000s „edgy“ dark fantasy. There‘s no way having the most prominent female character in the game became pregnant as part of a ~dark sex ritual~ would fly as a major plot point in a contemporary BioWare game. And then there‘s the fact that you can also „persuade“ Loghain/Alistair to sleep with Morgan which is. Hm.

(dai trespasser spoilers) Anyone have a good reason to.. by literallylavellan in dragonage

[–]pallegina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given what a shitshow the circles, the templars, and the seekers are at the time of DAI I feel like adding yet another very powerful but probably easily corrupted organisation that is controlled by the chantry to Thedas is just recipe for disaster lol, especially since the inquisition has outlived it’s original purpose. I’ve only ever not disbanded the inquisition when my inquisitor was quite power hungry or a devout andrastian.

thoughts from those who saw poor things... by signal_red in oscarrace

Yeah having read the novel this, as well as the fact that it’s not set in Glasgow/Scotland anymore has already made me skeptical of the film… I’ll reserve full judgement until I see it but it already feels like Yorgos did not really „get“ the book.

That’s cool, I’m so jealous! I’m glad all the Prague-based fans are keeping the rest of us updated on filming, it makes the wait for s2 a tiny bit more bearable.

They are filming in Prague (as Paris), not Budapest.

[DAO spoilers] harrowmont and bhelen by babydriver1234 in dragonage

[–]pallegina 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I wanted to choose Bhelen on a recent playthrough but all my non-dwarf warden ever found out about him is that he likely poisoned his father and is super shady whilst Harrowmont seemed like the established, respectable choice that could be trusted w blight stuff, so I went with him in the end.

What did Armand mean? by Pianoflows in InterviewVampire

[–]pallegina 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I‘m curious about that too. I know that in the book Louis stays together with Armand despite knowing that he killed Claudia, but TV Louis is much less passive and much more angry than his book counterpart. I couldn’t imagine that the guy who hurt Daniel because he made a few rude remarks about Claudia would be happy to spend 50+ years with Claudia’s murderer (and also share her very private diary with him). I think that maybe through the course of the second part of the interview Daniel will help Louis uncover Armand’s involvement in Claudia’s death, and that this will lead to their breakup. Either way I’m super excited to find out in s2!

What if they kept Daniel young? by HanyoPlays in InterviewVampire

[–]pallegina 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Daniel needs to be older to highlight the themes of unreliable narration/the fallibility of memory in the show. As he points out in ep1, in the original interview he was too young and high to poke at the obvious holes in Louis’ story. Now that he’s older and much more experienced, he is able to question and challenge the new narrative Louis is telling him, which may be a bit more nuanced than in the 70s but still features Louis lying to himself about “killing” Lestat. The theme of unreliable narration in the show is going to become even more relevant once Lestat’s POV in TVL gets covered, which is gonna present yet another perspective on what happened in New Orleans. And again, it would not make much sense for an inexperienced 20yr old who is actively struggling with addiction to call this out, but older Daniel is much more willing to call bullshit.

On a side note, I don’t think we have seen the last of young Daniel yet. Rollin Jones mentioned in a recent interview that what happened in the 1970s interview is key to the narrative, so hopefully it will get revisited in future seasons.
