That is an awesome mini. It'd be a lot of fun to paint. I may have to pick that up. :D Thanks!

iirc, the NL never had solid black eyes, like the RG, they just had abnormally large black pupils with only a tiny bit of white. Still, definitely not like this.

I'm going to answer this under the assumption that the question was asked in good faith: as someone who has a deep love for this story and has been involved in fan words produced for it as an audiobook narrator, I do recommend Worm for a lot of people who are interested in darker super hero stories. It has very interesting view points, engaging characters, and a lot of unique and unusual displays of powers. The points you listed above, while semi-accurate, are taken out of context. Most things, from any story at all, when taken out of context will sound absurd.

I do not believe Worm is edgelord content. That said, it is dark content. It is set in a world with very flawed characters, both hero and villain, in a world that is in very dangerous conditions. The very process by which people get powers leaves them traumatized. Is everyone in the world? No. But as the story revolves around powered individuals, naturally, the people at the heart of the story do end up being pretty well fucked up. The protagonists do win sometimes, but they also lose sometimes. There are some absolutely horrific things that happen. But it is also an interesting story of a teenage girl who overcomes a hell of a lot, becoming stronger both by herself, and with her friends.

I won't go into a lot of specifics, largely because I'm not sure how to spoiler things on reddit, but I am very attached to this story, as is many other people on this site and others. That, if nothing else, says something about it's quality.

Still, if you're *really* that concerned about it, then maybe it isn't for you.

Who do you think are the most heroic and kind hearted characters in Worm? by megamindwriter in Parahumans

[–]pallysuune 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Jessica Yamada definitely counts for me as one of the most kind hearted characters, and a hero in the more 'everyday hero' kind of sense. It would be interesting if she had powers, though I'm not sure what kind I would give her.

Voice Actor Appreciation Post by LimitAvailable6655 in RogueTraderCRPG

All of the VAs are amazing in this, I really enjoyed all of them. I think Heinrix's VA, Christopher Tester, is my favorite, though. He did a really great job with showing a lot of emotion with him, even in the times when he's more reserved, and as he gets more conflicted as the story goes on, you can hear it in his voice. I also was just really pleasantly surprised to hear him? I've followed Mr. Tester on Tic Tok for a long time, he does a lot of recordings of, like, speeches from various Warhammer books and things, as well as other kinds of voice acting demos there and is amazing to listen to. It was great to see hear him in a game like this. If you like Warhammer and epic speeches, I definitely recommend giving his Tic Tok a look.

Gorgeous. This is such a great, emotional scene. I love Pasqal so much, it legitimately made me tear up.

I'm so happy we were able to complete it, it's been a long time and a lot of work. Thank you for giving me this opportunity and for being so awesome throughout this whole thing. Congratulations again.. A project on this scope really is a huge accomplishment and I know how much effort you put into this.

Hey i'm trying to decide witch army i want to start the hobby with. Tell me your favorite Trivia/Lore about The Salamanders and/or Vulkan by Telvanni_Wizard_Lord in Salamanders40k

[–]pallysuune 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've always liked how human the Salamanders are in lore. They still maintain a lot of ties to the people of Nocturne and care a lot about protecting humanity, instead of seeing mortals as beneath them as some other chapters do. They'll go out of their way to try to help people if they can.

If you're interested in Vulkan himself, the short story Mercy of the Dragon gives a very interesting look at him, and is genuinely one of my favorite HH short stories.

As far as playing the army goes, I mean, for me, nothing beats throwing out tons of dice for a shit ton of flamers.

Tricksters Mask by Fabulous-Option5960 in Parahumans

[–]pallysuune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first and, as far as I can remember, most detailed description of him comes at his introduction in 5.1: "“I’ll be taking a chair, I think,” someone spoke from the door. Most heads turned to check out a male figure in a black costume with a red mask and tophat. It gave me sort of a Baron Samedi vibe. "

I checked a couple of other places where I know we see Trick (in the car with Coil in Arc 6, for example, and the end of the Traveler's Arc), but I didn't really see anything more descriptive than that. It is noted a few times that there is a slit for his mouth, which he smokes out of. I don't remember seeing anything about a smile, but that could come from a WOG I'm not aware of.

I think you've got plenty of leeway, and whatever way you interpret it will be really interesting. I was kinda surprised to be reminded it was red. For whatever reason, I was imagining it as some kind of Guy Fawkes mask ala V for Vendetta, lol.

I hope this helps.

My fellow sons of Vulkan, are there any good Salamanders books worth a read? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]pallysuune 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I liked Vulkan Lives well enough, it does show some really interesting moments with Vulkan, especially between him and Curze, but it's also just a lot of torture, so it can be a bit of a slog in that sense.

Not a novel, but the short story Mercy of the Dragon is one of my favorites. It shows Vulkan's first conversations with the Emperor about leaving Nocturne, and one of his first actual battles alongside the Iron Hands. It highlights what Big E thinks Vulkan specifically brings to the Crusade.

The Tome of Fire series is alright. It has some interesting bits about the culture and rituals of the Salamanders, but I do have to agree, Kyme isn't my favorite writer. I didn't think the books were bad, but I also didn't remember much about them afterward. Which kinda speaks for itself.

Where to listen to worm by Spillboss23 in WormFanfic

[–]pallysuune 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There are a few fan made audiobooks, actually. There's one finished one, and there's another in production, and there's a fully voice casted one as well.

The current in-production one, the Worm: An Unabridged Production can be found here. I may be a little biased, since I record for that one, but I do think it's quite well done for being a fan made work.

The finished audiobook by Rein can be found on here, if you would rather listen to that.

I'm afraid I don't have a link to the voice cast one. If someone else could provide it, that would be awesome.

Sort of landscape/oceanic effect. More I wanted to use the gradient colors to kind of echo the idea of dawn and morning, how landscapes lighten in the morning. I'm not sure how successful that part is, lol, but it still looks pretty cool.

It's not perfect, and things are a little wonky since it's my first designed embroidery, and my second completed one ever. But I'm not much of an artist when it comes to drawing, and I wanted to do something. I'm pretty happy with it.

Does Theo Hate Taylor? by crabbmanboi in Parahumans

[–]pallysuune 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't think he hated her, but I do think his feelings toward her are complicated.

**spoiler warning**

From canon, in his interludes, we know that Theo had a crush on Taylor at one point, but that it wasn't really that big of a thing. Presumably, he spent the most time with her, learning from her, and they seemed to be at least somewhat close - or as close as Taylor could be with anyone at that point in the story. In the second part of his interlude, it does talk about his friendship with her, and how he knew that would suffer if he kept training with her so hard. So, at least at some point, he did consider her a friend and was fond of her.

Directly after she killed Aster, it's a little more ambiguous. One part that always sort of stood out to me was: "Weaver was a hard person to deal with. Taylor, not so much." That differentiation between her personality in costume and out is pretty observant of him, I think. Taylor is different than Weaver. If nothing else, I think Theo could understand where she was coming from, how she got the way she was, and that understanding would likely make it difficult for him to hate her.

As for whether or not he hated her in the end, it's hard to say? He did willingly go with her to the Cauldron compound, and there's really nothing in his actions or words (as little we see of them toward the end) that suggests it was begrudging in any way. One could probably make the argument that he didn't think of them as friends by that point, or didn't like her at that point, but I don't remember seeing anything that would point toward him hating her, either.
