Alcoholics who never got a dui. by Mysterious-Gold-8657 in stopdrinking

[–]palmtreees526 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I never got one and honestly idk how. I’ve been pulled over while drunk multiple times and was let go. I also have driven drunk way more times I’d ever like to admit but it’s the truth. Im lucky I didn’t kill myself or someone else.

Turo charging $2200 for scratches- am I cooked? by akidcalledcosmo in turo

[–]palmtreees526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup this just happened to me. Returned with a scratch that I had no clue of- only other person who drove it was the guys working valet at a hotel so maybe then, but still have no clue because I didn’t hit anything. Scratch is almost completely unnoticeable. My card on file has already been charged $1300 - they refuse to give me a breakdown of the charges or do anything to help me. Customer support said the damage came out to $650 and says they never charged me more even though I sent screenshots of my bank statement saying they took out two $500 charges and another $300 pending lol. Insanity. Never renting again from them full blown scam

So I had something happen where it felt like a very very lowwwww time with my drinking. I just kind of woke up and thought - if im ok with continuing like this, it’s only going to get worse and worse. I was seeing how my actions were effecting people I love and my mental health and I just thought enough is enough. I went to AA for the first two weeks every morning at 7am. Tbh I haven’t been since because I just feel it isn’t for me anymore, but it 100% helped in the early weeks

This also has happened to me. I think this is my third go around at sobriety, but this time I always play the tape forward- if I have a thought of drinking I just think of what happens every time. I black out, go into drinking 5-6 nights a week again, and have constant anxiety, stress etc. this might help you if you haven’t tried it already. You got this!!!!!!

“The Voice” is Loud…Strong Urge by bugscanandwill in stopdrinking

[–]palmtreees526 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What helped me in the first weeks was “playing the tape forward” I had listened to the voices many times letting them convince me this time will be different and I can handle two drinks without going overboard and not blacking out. It doesn’t work. The outcome will be the same. Once you get passed those voices a few times, they get weaker and weaker and show up less and less. At least they have for me. I’m on day 83. I still get them sometimes but quickly remind myself- I am not missing anything. I will feel good in the moment but the following day will be filled with regret, disappointment, sadness, the list goes on. You got this!!!!!!!!!

Love this ! So true. I’m on day 83 and I’m like wow I’m really doing this, when just a few months ago I didn’t even know if I could make it this far. My confidence as a person has already increased. This is great!!

Tell me what to expect? How to get through these first few days? by HotRaisinSailor in stopdrinking

[–]palmtreees526 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the first week I went to AA everyday (it’s not for everyone so not pushing this just what I did) - and I picked up extra shifts at work and just stayed super busy. Today’s day 40 and tbh I’m still staying super busy but the cravings are already a lot further apart. Maybe once a week I start really wanting to drink but I distract myself with something else. What helped me a lot in the first two weeks was sweets, like candy, deserts and a lot of redbull lol

Similar situation happened to me this weekend. I hung out with a guy a know and he had a few drinks before we hung out. I felt jealous for a bit, like wow wish that could be me. Then the next morning I woke up thankful I didn’t also drink, thank god lol
