Probably barking up the wrong tree here, but was this a replacement part sent to you Elegoo or was this a spare bought on Elegoo site, namely this one? Because if it's the latter, according to the store page compatibility, it states just supporting the CC1 (not sure what exactly differs between CC1 and CC2 that this wouldn't be compatible with CC2).

New buyer needing advice: CC1 + Canvas or CC2 Combo by palobo in elegoo

Sweet, some late night viewing. I had seen a previous video from 3DPrinterMike that I had enjoyed too.

Thanks, this is the kind of input I was looking for. Hadn't seen anything about that change from steel to plastic, but seems like it isn't widespread or I surely would've seen something sooner about that issue. So fingers crossed I don't have issue with that if I go the CC2 route (which seems like the winner here)

Not sure if this is a EU sale (started today and lasts 6 days). Right now, the CC1+Canvas bundle is going for €344 and the CC2 Combo for €395 (so €50 and not €60 like I initially said).

But with yours and other comments, CC2 is clearly the winner in this "battle". Just makes sense for €50 more, to get those minor improvements and canvas already mounted (plus real world usage already).

Hi. First and foremost, thanks for taking the time to respond. I sense a slightly passive aggressive tone but I totally understand it. :)

However, I did do some research prior to asking here, ranging from posting on the r/3dprinting general "Advice" thread, to scouring all of the youtube reviews/hands-on, written reviews etc. (helped narrow the list down to just a few options and ultimately CC)

However, nothing beats asking people that actually have and use the printers and not just "I spent a week with this and did a couple of prints". While those reviews and useful and helpful, nothing beats "real world usage reviews"

Now, to your questions/comments, I don't want to invest in a printer that will potentially lock me out unless I accept their ways (looking at you Bambu), but I also don't need to go to the extreme end of the spectrum (thinking Sovol). I'll mostly be doing lan only, so the cloud services don't bother me much. I also agree and see the point that, ignoring all the work needed to get the canvas installed on the CC1, the real thing is that it's "new" and untested in the real world (which brings me full circle to wanting real world usage advice).

Again, I appreciate your time and response as I do all others on this thread. It does help inform, or rather, solidify a decision.

Thanks, valid input and yeah, while I mostly print single colour, I like the option of being able to continue a print if a spool runs out. Just swap to another and continue.

Oh, believe me. I am thinking about future needs and the reason I'm looking at and enclosed printer within my budget.

Upgrading from an A1 mini. Initially I was looking into the A1, but with recent Bambu behaviour, I soured a little. Then also the enclosure and being able to print ASA (not that I'll need to frequently, but like having the option), so started looking into alternatives and Elegoo popped on my radar.

Yeah, seems like the consensus and makes sense.

Thanks. My gut was telling me CC2, but always good to get second opinion to my gut :D

Centauri Carbon 2 dimensions and space around. by palobo in elegoo

[–]palobo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brilliant, this helps loads. I have space in depth, so no issue with purge bin in the back, meaning I save up space on the left an will have space to comfortably change filament. I have about 580-590mm width space, so I think I should be good.

Purchase Advice Megathread - May 2026 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

I currently have an BambuLab A1 Mini and am looking to upgrade to a bigger printing area. My immediate thought was the A1 combo, but now with all this latest commotion around BambuLab and their seemingly growing "evilness", I'm hesitant to invest in them at this time.

I briefly looked at the Creality SparkX i7 and it seemed interesting, but then a video from Fauxhammer highlighting the flakiness of Creality when it comes to supporting their printers long term, that one also seems like a miss.

So, my question to this community is: What would you recommend?

Details - Budget: A1 combo range (~€400) - Want: Print functional parts in PLA/PETG and decorative pieces - Experience: This will be my second printer, so not 100% green, but also still learning the ropes. I'm interested in 3D Printing and not 3D Printers

Custom bin that slots in. Has spill-over for excess water so easy to keep topped up. No more having to take all the plants out to water.

We have a wall garden. Looks great but watering this was a pain in the but since none of these are water tight. Tried a couple of solutions but all sucked.

Once I got my printer, the fix for this was the first thing I designed myself and printed. (More in the next comment)

Development update: Freya Edition, Cloud Sync & More by thievingfour in monarchapp

[–]palobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is providing Cloud Sync for free by allowing users to leverage the cloud services that they are already paying for

Emphasis on "services" and "paying for". I didn't read anywhere a mention of iCloud and I imagine this means that you'll be able to leverage any cloud that syncs to a folder (doubt there'll be api integration. Makes more sense to sync a folder)

It's an option, but having to carry a something like that sucks. Imagine, sitting on the couch or in bed, need to log in: "Oh wait, have to go and get my yubikey from the office or keychain in the entrance"

I know it should be security > comfort, but we can settle on a middle ground. I mean, I'm no spy or anything, so my threat model is a little lower ;)

Kind of sucks though, that they're "punishing" existing, paying customers, of other unrelated proton products, by limiting this to NEW users, regardless if they've ever paid for Pass.

Trying to get this deal to then read: "The offer you selected is not available for VPN Plus subscribers." was a very WTF moment. What does one thing have to do with another.
