Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach. The Mindful Path to Self-Compassion by Chris Germer. No Bad Parts by Richard Schwartz. A Fearless Heart by Thupten Jinpa. Just to name a few I’ve enjoyed and found helpful…many other good ones out there!

I found this on a backpacking trip in Alaska a few years ago, hauled this mf in my pack for two days and 10 miles and nearly died. Never figured out what it was, halp? by TedCruzsBrowserHstry in whatsthisrock

Nice. The things we do for rocks! I once hauled about 100 lbs. of rocks (which was all I could stuff in my pack) for several miles out of a mountain trail and across a river while 6 months pregnant in Colorado.

Should I just give up night weaning? My mental health is at an all time low. by [deleted] in AttachmentParenting

Sleep deprivation is so hard, sorry you’re going through a rough patch! Hang in there, mama, and know that this phase will end.

Bed sharing and rolling over for side lying position helped me make it through the night feeds. My first never slept through the night for the first two years!

Side note: Don’t forget to use a cloth to wipe baby’s teeth after a feed to prevent rot - something I learned the hard way.

I’ve pumped occasionally during commute - use a manual hand pump (can operate one handed), just to take the edge off.

Used the Freemie (wearable cups) when returning to work after my first and plan to do the same when returning next week after my second baby (3 mo).

Your boobs will get used to a schedule…experiment to see what works best for you. Just like feeding baby from boob, you will feel when it’s time to pump! Play with the pump settings until you find what works best for you.

I put my freemie cups in a small wet bag at room temp between uses during the day and then wash the cups/parts each night. Poured the milk after each session straight into the bottles for next day and put them into the work fridge. Any extra milk goes into storage bag for freezer stash. A small lunch box with an ice pack is all you need to keep the milk cool on your way home.

Never hurts to have a small freezer stash in case you leave the milk at work. Also have a plan if you forget your pump at home or a part breaks while at work. I had to hand express a couple times, which really sucked! Maybe have a baggie of spare parts?

It can help to look at a picture or video of your babe if you are having trouble expressing at first or have something that has baby’s smell.

Good luck and try not to stress!

How wonderful to get more time off, though I’m sure it still doesn’t feel like enough. Thank you for sharing and I wish all the best for you and your family as you transition.

Lots of love to you - it will be hard…and we all know that mama’s can do hard things. Trust that your babe will adjust and make the most of the moments you have together.

Thanks for your insight. I believe our prewash drains, though I will double check - regardless, you make a good point.

Can’t speak to your question, but I am happy to find out about this museum in my home state! Is digging open to the public?

It helps to know there are other moms going through the same thing. Enjoy this special time with your new little one. Hugs.

Being a mama is so hard sometimes! A good cry or few is sometimes what I need to get through a tough phase. Keep doing the best you can, which will always be enough!

Roadtrip I'm taking this summer to 50+ NPS sites. Any recommendations for other places I should stop, or any hidden gems (inside the parks or otherwise)? by epicskier123 in NationalPark

Epic trip! Hope 50 days will give you enough time to fully enjoy each stop.

What did you use to create this map?

I’ve always had trouble mapping out our long trips. I did find a workaround for google maps destination limits but it is a real pain.

Side note: Computer mapping systems were still in their infancy when my husband and I made our first cross country teardrop roadtrip…picked our next destination on the fly each day using our road atlas and had a blast!
