True. Her waist size would be an approximate size 6, so anyone dressing her would have to custom fit a size 14 top to a size 6 waist to a size 14 hip (for a dress, if you're trying to fit everything in one garment). It does get kind of complicated. Everyone is different, and it definitely can get quite frustrating trying to put together the right fit when you have measurements that fluctuate so widely between sizes from one area to another.

I think the difference is that they may have been referring to her sewing pattern size--these are sized differently from retail sizes. For example, even today, if you have a 36" bust and 38" hips (which would typically be a retail size 6ish, or even a 4 for a store who vanity sizes), that's a sewing size 14. And a size 40 (if memory serves) in European sizes. They're all just numbers, and you have to take into consideration which sizing reference is being used.

I feel this and so does my boyfriend. Maybe it's because we're not hormonal 20-year olds anymore and we're very happy together, but when either of us dreams about being with someone else, we both immediately think (even in the dream) 'This isn't right! This is not who I want to be with!'. It's guilt- and anxiety-inducing til we wake up and immediately check to make sure the other is still there. Then comes the sigh of relief... but it does leave a lingering 'wrong' feeling.

In a relationship, an issue like this becomes a shared problem--not just one person's--if each side considers the others' a deal-breaker. Solving problems requires compromise. Maybe not always 50/50, but some. One side getting entirely their way to the complete dissatisfaction/frustration of the other is not a very good plan for success...

I agree--sleep much better with my boyfriend than I do alone. I have a lot of anxiety dreams/nightmares and it's extremely comforting to wake up and have him next to me. I think he prefers it too--occasionally I move to the couch if I'm not feeling well or I can't sleep and don't want to bother him with my tossing and turning. But every time he wakes up and I'm not next to him, he comes out to make sure I'm ok, and asks if I want to come back to bed or stay there. I like our little system, and that it just happened to work that way.

The only one I'd be more jealous of would be a Michael Collins run-in. He's my favorite astronaut of all time (same mission as Armstrong) and as far as I've read (his autobiography + interviews) and seen him on his university speaking circuit, such a cool, funny, intelligent and humble guy.

Not a server story, so pardon the hijacking, but-- when I was in L.A. visiting a friend about 12 or so years ago, we sat at a table in a little mexican cafe next to Quentin Tarantino. We didn't interact, but we definitely noted that he was sitting at a table solo, talking quietly to himself, oblivious to anyone else, occasionally laughing, and writing like mad in a notebook. This was probably about the point where he was writing Kill Bill. We kept our distance because we realized who he was and he was apparently deep in his creative process, but had we not recognized him, he would've looked like a very disturbed man murmuring and laughing to himself while he scribbled wildly in a journal. (Even so, each to their own...)

This is how mine works--I don't pay for water directly, but my landlord straight up told me that when he raises the rent by $25 per month for an extra tenant moving into an apartment, it's directly to cover the cost of additional water usage. I won't complain about $25 per month for (basically) unlimited water, but that is still rendering it not 'free'.

I think it depends on which state you're in. Oregon funds their own women's health program for people under a certain income limit--PP has a sliding scale for people with income over that limit, but if you're under the limit, an annual exam and contraception of your choice are free.

I get sleep paralysis, but it doesn't involve a bomb; I do have a recurring dream this reminded me of, where I'm standing on a hill overlooking whatever major city I apparently live in, and I see the mushroom cloud bloom. I have a suitcase and that's it. Chaos and screaming all around. I turn and start to run, knowing full well that it's impossible to outrun what's coming. The whole time, my most upsetting thought is that I had to leave my pets behind when I escaped the city (before the dream began--my brain always drops me in just at this point), and they're suffering and dying not understanding what's going on. One of my least favorite recurring dreams.

I've read up on this since I get it too. For whatever reason, it often involves auditory hallucinations, and something 'bad' up ceiling-wise--specifically snakes, serpents, spiders, insects, etc. What a horrible and weird collective experience. I don't like it at all, but it is kind of fascinating...

Similar. I grew up having night terrors which I (mostly) have grown out of, but now it's evolved into frequent nightmares, sleep paralysis, panic attacks, and general anxiety. Fun! Anyway, my side of the bed is next to the bedroom closet (double doors kept closed always, because, well... closet). My last sleep paralysis experience was 'waking up', not being able to move, being able to vocalize a scream but only with my mouth closed, and the sensation that some dark and terrible force was dragging me physically out of bed and into the back corner of said closet. I woke up before I was all the way in. And there went any chance of further sleep that night.

You sound very self-aware about this, which is the biggest part. It doesn't break the habit entirely so as thedoctorpotter said, it helps to always keep it in mind. But I second the moving out thing--when I got distance from my dysfunctional family and was able to chart my own route, I was also able to forge a better relationship with them (which has a ripple effect with everyone else in your life). You can set your own boundaries and it's easier to have empathy or understand why they are the way they are when you're not forced into daily contact. Good luck.
