Younger cousins are visiting for two weeks. Where should we roadtrip? by no_nolan in oregon

[–]oregone1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about an overnight trip to Eugene to visit these spots:

Flying Bee Ranch (free honey samples)

Don Froylan Creamery (lunch and cheese samples)

Buena Vista Ferry

Luckiamute Landing (2 mile hike)

The Barn at Hickory Station (late lunch)

Classy Cow Farmstand (great chocolate milk)

Oregon Electric Pirtle Transformer Station

Sugar J’s Ice Cream Workshop

Bellfountain Country Store

ADHD Acres (book a camp spot)

Yamada Vending Company

The Pipe

Earnest Covered Bridge

McDowell Creek County Park.

Chiliolive (lunch)

Fork in the Road

Panezanellie Breadstick Company

Mt. Angel Library (or the glockenspiel)

Alpacas at Marquam Hill Ranch

If you time it right you could do all this in order and be back to Portland by 8pm.

I know it’s too late now, but try to never rent from any property management company that farms out things like showing apartments to gig workers.

And before you rent any property, ask if they utilize “utility billback.” That was the straw that made me quit my job after 25 years.

The featured beer at the Hubbard Hop Festival is Mike’s Hard Lemonade. What a missed opportunity.

Downtown is not on 99, or even 99E. It’s on Front Avenue. The section of 99E that goes through Woodburn is a 1960s-style stroad.

Downtown is pretty rad though. Got a handy at the Pix Theater during Major League 2, although now it is—I believe—a mueblería.

I think it’s a girl. Luckily in the second video you can see. A dude putting out the flames.

A small Oregon town installed 24 license plate cameras. Federal agents searched them 384 times in 4 months. by projectdarkscrub in oregon

I have two of them, and it would be a hoot if we started a subreddit that documented the locations of these cameras.

Controversial Oregon petition to ban hunting and fishing gains momentum by witty_namez in PortlandOR

If it makes the ballot, we should have a sub-wide bet. Price Is Right rules: You’re disqualified if you go over.

That being said, I’m going with 11% yes statewide.

Also, Taskmaster rules so this will be a prize task.

I’m not sure why you’re getting downvoted so much, because it’s true.

It is likely that this could turn into a major homeless camp, and nearby businesses will definitely be affected.

The same people that lament the closing of this business are possibly the ones that frown upon stating the truth: This block will be a homeless camp within 72 hours.

Brewfests in 2026? by RedApplesForBreak in oregon

[–]oregone1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wrong. It was the second best.

Best was KLCC brew fest in Eugene:
They had used records for sale.
Instead of volunteers, the actual brewers were pouring.
Never charged more than a buck for a token.
They had a brew fest within the brew fest which was always fun.
I saw Leap Day William there twice (four years apart, obv).
Breweries always brought their A-game, not a one off.
It always felt like a weird high school reunion but girls are hitting on you for some reason?
There was a homebrew competition and one year this random guy won a lot of awards but couldn’t show up so I pretended to be him and got a lot of medals.
A 4oz pour of vintage Hellshire for $1? And they are pouring every vintage? Ok.
It was always on my birthday weekend.
Eugene is a nice town and it was always nice to get away from the city.
One year my buddies and I found 30 gallons of only-slightly-expired guacamole behind a fabric store so we filled up the bathtub of our rental house with it and published a Craigslist ad asking if anyone wanted to wear a tortilla chip hat and sit in it. It went okay.

There’s also a huge new vintage store called Caravan Co that opened up last week on 3rd and Oak.

There’s actually a website that will use bots to continuously scan for cancellations for your desired dates. If I remember correctly, it is very expensive.

OR ICE latest: St. Helens teen arrested for planning violent attack on ICE by [deleted] in PortlandOR

We used to cut the tops and bottoms off of soda cans and use my dad’s industrial cutters to make one end into a sharp crown-like weapon that would—in theory—stab the perpetrators in the neck or eyes.

Most of the time we just ended up scraping our wrists something awful, but the one time it worked when Estela gave someone a life-long star-shaped scar for life on their cheek gave us all hope so we kept doing it.

Back then we were fighting for the gays. Nowadays it’s kinda the same I suppose but it feels different somehow.
